rhythmgtr5
Here's a total n00b question - so bear w/ me. I got my first picture disc 7" and I noticed that the actual track (grooves in the record) extends only 1 inch from the center. My other 7's have the track extending to the edge of the record. The song is 4:15 long, so I'd think that it would take up more space than that. My question: Is this normal for picture discs? I assume it will sound shitty since it's confined to such a small space - am I right? (my player isnt set up right now).
AlexH.
You mean the grooves are closest to the center? What release is it?
rhythmgtr5
correct, there are no grooves near the edge - about 80% of it is smooth. The release is Local H / The blank theory - split. It was put out by four alarm records
qskapunk
could just be a weird mastering technique street dogs - savin hill - side A goes all the way to the label, i mean alllll the way in this case there was probably a bit too much music for one LP so it got crammed in
jailhouse
Pic disc can hold pretty much the same amount of music as a regular record. The sound quality of pic disc are usually not quite as good. The picture keeps the grooves from being able to be cut really well. There was an article I read on picture disc, I am racking my brain on where it was...
