mattshaw
Hello, New to Vinyl. I need to buy speakers, turntable and preamp. This is the set-up I a m considering to go with my existing Yamaha RXV475. Turntable: Project Essential 2 http://www.richersounds.com/product/turntables/project/essential-2/proj-essential-2-blk PreAmp: http://www.richersounds.com/product/turntable-accessories/cambridge-audio/azur-551p/camb-551p-blk Speakers: http://www.richersounds.com/product/standmount-speakers/monitor-audio/bronze-bx2/moni-audio-bx2-wal I'd like to know what you think of this set-up and any recommendations. Will also need a 20m phono cable, anyone know how much or can recommend one and there seems to be really expensive cabling - is it worth it or not for this entry level kit? thanks Matt
ajxd
20m? Not a great move. Phono cables should be short. 1m-1.5m.
ajxd
But, its a good beginnig setup. You could probably spend a few more dollars and get a better table though. Or at least a better cartridge.
jackholexxxx
Cheap cables are fine as long as they are thick and well shielded. As far as 20m cable, ajxd is right. If you need the truntable that far away from the receiver then use the 20m cable between the receiver preamp. Then use a 1m cable between the preamp and turntable. jhog3411
I've read good things about the Monitor Audio bookshelves.
allenh
I've read good things about the Monitor Audio bookshelves. A lot of this is personal choice, go listen to some and then decide and if you can't do that then it's always going to be pot luck regardless of how much you spend
