Keyscapeunit
I read recently that Frank Zappa's Apostrophe (') album was released in stereo and quadrophonic formats when it came out. For a stereo hifi setup, would the stereo format be better?
mrrom92
Depends on the mix of course. The quad is usually much less common, and that much more costly. The real appeal to these is that there are usually mix differences, and those will still be very apparent and enjoyable even just played as a standard stereo record. I owned a good amount even before I had a quad receiver. Even now that I have a quad receiver, i "disabled" the quad functionality by internally bridging the electronics, essentially creating a doubly-powerful stereo amp, and only have 2 speakers hooked up. What I'm saying is... Even with the option right in front of me, I don't bother with quad playback. Just buy them and enjoy em.
