RustyShackelford
I just got a NAD 7175PE stereo reciever for free, I see a few things online about it that say it's decent. Anyone have any idea about it? I'm wondering if it's better than what I have right now, which is a Sony STR-DE945. Can anyone help me out? RustyShackelford
I won't have time to hook it up until the weekend. Just wondering if anyone has a general opinion on that reciever.
ajxd
Sony sucks. And it was given to you... are you under a time crunch on audio?
allenh
Sony sucks. And it was given to you... are you under a time crunch on audio? In general yes Sony stuff tends to sound as flat as a run over turd, the Nad should be an improvement but Listen to both and see which one you like more? It's the only way to find out for sure because its your ears not ours.
RustyShackelford
I've never noticed an issue with how m my Sony sounds. I'll hook up the other this weekend and go from there. Thanks for the replies.
RustyShackelford
The NAD seems to have a great sound but it is staticy from time to time. Everything seems to be properly grounded as well, could it only be that it's a little dirty and just needs a cleaning?
allenh
when you say staticy is that when you are using any of the controls, volume etc? If so you need some contact cleaner squirted inside all the switches and controls and this needs to be done with it disconnected from the power and don't re connect it until all the cleaner has evaporated. RustyShackelford
It does it a little with the switches and what not but it still is staticy whenever it's just on even if I'm not touching it or playing anything. It's not constant, maybe every few seconds.
allenh
that could be a bigger problem like the output capacitors going south, id try giving all the controls a clean with contact cleaner first though
