mynameistom
so i just found a copy of relationship of command in this random record shop for £9 (good times) and i got back home to play it, and it seems like the record is a little oversized in one particular area and keeps dragging against my turntable, making it sound weird and slowed down about every 4 seconds when it's playing (bad times). any suggestions about how i could go about fixing this problem would be mega appreciated!! cheers. Guest scriptedrain
I've never heard of this before, sorry to hear!
xfedaykinx
this is a crazy idea, and i dont know if i would even attempt it myself, but maybe you could file down the edge of the record a bit where it rubs? i mean, are you ever going to try and sell it? i dont know. something to consider, i suppose. mynameistom
that's the only thing i could really think of. it seems like it's literally a couple of mm too big in one specific area of the record. i was contemplating a razor blade, but i really don't want to damage it! mynameistom
ok! so as terrible as it felt to do it, i just took a couple of mm off the side of the record with a penknife blade (!!!) and now it works fine. you can't even notice where it has been done! i never want to have to do that again! cj
well done! the same thing happened to me but i figured out the hole in the center was too small and it didnt sit properly so all i did was get a file and make it a little better and it worked perfectly

cadetapplesauce
sounds painful, having to physically (and voluntarily) alter the shape of your record. but i'm glad things went well! the hole on my gnarls barkley album was too small, too. but i just pushed it down, and it got on alright. its fine now. xfedaykinx
whenever the center hole in a record is too small i just take the poker from my swiss army knife and twist it around in there a little. works like a charm.
