Got an email from Mosaic (a jazz label) about how they are planning all sorts of reissues and new releases on vinyl.

Today, got an email from Dischord saying that, due to the renewed interest in vinyl, they are repressing a bunch of old stuff. I believe there's a little more to it than that (new mastering, etc.)

Anyway, FYI.

Vinyl Remastering

Due to the renewed interest in vinyl LPs Dischord Records is remastering and recutting much of our vinyl catalog here in the United States. We will begin by re-pressing current titles, and later re-issuing others, all re-cut at Chicago Mastering Service and featuring complimentary MP3 album downloads. This move will coincide with a small but long overdue price increase from $10 to $11 (on Dischord vinyl only) that will begin with newly pressed titles and extend to all titles in January 2009. We will begin rolling out these newly remastered albums in December, including the two Minor Threat 12" EPs (DIS10v, DIS12V), Fugazi "7 Songs" 12" EP (DIS30V) and the Faith/Void split 12" LP (DIS08V). Many more catalog titles should be completed by summer 2009.

Free Egg Hunt Tracks For All Dischord Customers

In July we relaunched our website to enable the direct sales of MP3 downloads. We knew that our longtime customers would appreciate being able to purchase digital music directly from us but we have been pleasantly surprised by how quickly the new site and our Digital Credits system has been embraced by new and old visitors alike. As a small token of our appreciation for taking the time to visit and create a new account we have added the songs from the Egg Hunt single to every one of our customers' personal accounts to download for free. Every new customer who creates a new account will also have these tracks automatically added to their personal account. You will find download links to these tracks by logging in at www.dischord.com, clicking on My Account and looking under My Digital Tracks.

MP3 Content at dischord.com

Almost the entire Dischord catalog is available to download in the form of high quality (320 kbps), non-restricted (DRM-free), MP3 files. Currently we have digital tracks available for full Dischord titles, Northern Liberties, Peterbilt, and the Fugazi Live Series. New digital content will be added regularly as it becomes available (including select Dischord 1/2 label stuff and obscure and previously out of print material).

The Dischord catalog is now also available for download at Napster and Shockhound

Fugazi Live Series

The entire catalog of Fugazi Live Series CDs has been re-stocked and is again available for sale, exclusively from the Dischord website. These CDs and digital downloads are not available anywhere else. Now that we have our digital download site enabled the Fugazi band-members will begin to work on introducing more shows to the series in digital MP3 format. The original plan for the initial 30 shows was to allow the CDs to go out of print and have the albums remain available only as downloads, however, we have decided to keep these CDs in print for as long as there continues to be demand for them.
