Guest afsdan
no wonder record stores are dying off. how dare you ask to purchase a record! records are for storing in bins, not selling.
markage
no wonder record stores are dying off. how dare you ask to purchase a record! records are for storing in bins, not selling. I've noticed certain record stores hold out on the average customer because they have friends/regulars who they look out for. I needed money for rent last month so I sold 250+ records to a local record store. Pretty much my entire collection since I was 18, full of rare shit. When I went back the next day I saw only the common records on the shelves.
thejetsjets
given that i was offering over what i thought it was worth because i wanted it that bad i thought it was really odd.
stranaspank
Damn, I'm so close to my Cursive collection, but I need the orange Disruption and the numbered split with Small Brown Bike. I think I need that Recluse 7" though...

I heard from a local shop owner that another local shop's employees do this all the time, and that it's no wonder some places can barely stay afloat. On one hand it makes sense that people look out for their friends, but if I were an owner of a shop I'd be a bit pissed if my employees were doing this and robbing a store of a little more profit...cause customers will come back if they know a store will actually sell rare® stuff when it comes in. I think some shops cap the amount or cost on records for their employees.
