william
I recently released this record by MIST (john elliott of emeralds / sam goldberg of radio people) MIST "glowing net e.p." Amethyst Sunset AS-007 much welcome vinyl issue of the 2010 cassette release from john elliott (outer space, emeralds) and sam goldberg (radio people, docile dawn) that sold out at the source and distros rather quickly. further exploring the zones on the previously released "mist" lp, the duo take it one step further with their electronics unleashing a record which sounds like it could be the soundtrack to an amazing 70's / 80's sci fi movie. the tracks have been remastered for vinyl by james plotkin, and the vinyl lacquer was cut for 45rpm at d+m in berlin. wonderful front cover photo art by ashley krantz $13+ shipping to your location available now in the distribution section of my site http://www.amethystsunset.net mp3 sample here ; http://www.amethystsunset.net/dreamm/Track%2002%20-%20SKY%20HIGH.mp3 some more samples at the lovely boomkat website who are now stocking this record and have it listed as an "album of the week" ; http://boomkat.com/vinyl/362270-mist-john-elliott-sam-goldberg-glowing-net-ep *Emeralds' John Elliot and Radio People's Sam Goldberg on a killer, dense and tripped out synth adventure - already sold out at source* Sam Goldberg (Radio People) and John Elliott (Emeralds/Imaginary Softwoods) embark on their latest vision quest as Mist with a dazzling album of untethered interzonal synth exploration. 'Glowing Net' previously appeared as a cassette on Goldberg's Pizza Night label but it's clearly one of those sessions that just had to end up on wax, ready to soundtrack the light show behind your eyelids. 'Glowing Net' takes the sounds of their previous 'Mist' LP one step further, affording a 360º panoramic view of totally classic sci-fi soundscapes. From the outset of 'A.M.' there's a sure adjustment of reverb settings, expanding their sound to the peripheries of perception and allowing glimpses of previously unseen/heard galactic disturbances deep in the distance. The effect carries into 'Sky High' where a deceptively mixed distant clang more than once made us think some workmen were repairing a shuttle outside the office, itself creating a magically transcendent space enhanced by the flurry of chromatic synth shapes. From the dominant, titanic emotions of 'Mist Stream' onwards, the other side encounters the vast shapes of 'Soaring Yellow/Glowing Net' and the breathtaking, near-symphonic scenery of 'Mist Refrain', both as close as you'll get to a contemporary equivalent of classic '70s/'80s sci-fi soundtracks. The effect of all this is surely enhanced by the remastering for vinyl by James Plotkin and a vinyl lacquer cut at Berlin's alchemical D&M. Highly recommended indeed. some kind words from volcanic tongue; Major new six track mini album from the duo of John Elliott (Emeralds) and Sam Goldberg (Radio People et al), a vinyl reissue of a tough to find cassette that came out earlier this year. Glowing Net is easily the best thing I’ve heard from this duo, the perfect combination of lucid, mind-melting stratas of synth, simplistic brain-buzzing melodies repeated to the point of white out and arpeggiated Industrial rhythms. Parts of this actually remind me of disparate aspects of Nurse With Wound – the endlessly lonely zones of Spiral Insana, the mechanistic rhythms of Steel Dream/Simple Headphone Mind... but swapping the ‘cold, clinical’ feel of a Stapleton production for a lush, rich studio sound that feels truly epic. Easily one of the most inspired and consistently dazzling Emerald offshoot releases. Highly recommended. soon i'll be releasing the following; sean mccann lp rene hell / copper glove 'split' lp 1958-2009 lp providen lp thanks for reading! - www.amethystsunset.net
kurtz
I'm on the fence about picking this up since I already own the cassette. Good record though. Everyone who doesn't already own this should certainly buy it!

kurtz
Hopefully this is still around after Christmas when I have a bit more extra cash. I certainly would like to own the vinyl release! You have some good stuff lined up too with the McCann and Rene Hell LPs! I'm glad to see you promoting your releases here! This board could always use more diversity. william
it'll probably be around for a bit. if not from me, there are plenty of distributors that have stock of this lp. some may even still have the self titled mist lp i released last november. nice to hear the positive words about the upcoming lps. the mccann lp will probably be the next thing out. still waiting on the latest round of test presses. here's a link to a video sean recently made for one of the tracks on the lp. http://vimeo.com/17018521 so excited for that lp to finally be out. really excited about everything i have lined up though to be honest.
