Tips for buying used/vintage turntables

Recommended Posts

I've been looking at alot of used turntables recently and was wondering what specifically I should be checking out, asking about, etc. Are there things you can tell about the condition just by looking at it?

I know I've heard before to watch out for tables that may have been used by a DJ, but lets say you find something at a pawn shop and you don't know where it came from. Admittedly, the pawn shop turntable was probably a DJ table, but is it that bad? Can you trade out the cartridge and needle and still have a good table?

Thanks!
