We've only got a few short weeks until The Original Southern New England Rock 'n' Roll Collectors Convention meets again on Sunday, Feb. 26 at our same old new location, The Ramada Inn in Seekonk, Mass. 5 minutes from Providence, RI. We're really hoping that this will be the biggest and best show we've done. This time around, we've rented out both sides of the room and all 34 tables (50% more than our last show!) have been scarfed up by dealers from all over New England. We're in the latest Goldmine, we're on craigslist, and we've again taken out an ad in the Providence Phoenix that will run two consecutive weeks. ------ Above is the 'official" details on the show but this will be my first as a dealer. I attended the October show, which featured most of the local record shops and dealers, but everyone has the same stuff. Classic rock and collections that would have belonged to my Dad and I only found a couple of interesting records to purchase. I have been back into vinyl for almost 10 years and my collection is only stuff released after 2000. Over the years I have purchased way too many records and need to downsize. Most of my LP's are pop-rock and sealed while most 7's are punk and pop. I only have one table and want to push product (so I can buy a better, more expensive turntable). What should I be bringing? Right now I put aside a couple of bins with sealed $20 records and boxes of unplayed $5 singles. I intend to leave the "rare" records at home and hope someone will want to talk about getting the most expensive items. Included will be a complete collection of DIW 7's and magazine, too many Nirvana pressings, Elephant Six related stuff (of Montreal), Sub Pop, Southern Lord & Boris related stuff, Detroit garage rock, a couple of cheap turntables and a new Family Guy Freakin' Party Pack (season 1-5). Really hoping this works out and I can finally drop the Ebay-Paypal-USPS route. Do I leave the Elliott Smith, DCFC, Minus the Bear, Ted Leo, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails stuff at home? Any requests?
