Tour help? St. Louis/Detroit EDITED

Recommended Posts

Holy shit I haven't been on here in a while.

I play in a band called Rapids and we are going to be doing some small weekend tours in the coming months around the midwest. I could really use some help finding local dudes, bands, house shows, venues... whatever the fuck.

Needing help in St. Louis for late September

I think we're doing another one out to Cleveland in November and could use some help in the Detroit area.

If anyone can help out in any way that would be fucking awesome. Check out the tunes on our bandcamp page.

I can't get you into contact with any venues myself, but I live in STL and go to a lot of local shows and these venues are good small settings for shows and new bands.

Please be warned though; A LOT of bands recently that come to visit St. Louis have had their van broken into and gear stolen, or even once very recently, the whole van stolen. I can't remember which venue they were from, probably The Firebird, but bigger acts play there anyways, but they're also an option. These neighborhoods the venues are in are generally okay, but Cicero's is in the Delmar Loop which can get sketchy at nighttime, just watch over everything and you'll have a safe show.

How many people do you think you will draw? I hate to belittle my area, but I've seen bands like the cobra skulls and Lawrence arms in these venues in front of <50 people. Detroit has a pretty shitty punk scene.

Assuming (based on your post) that LJ's lounge on Michigan ave might be best bet. More of a 20-30 person venue.

I think a lot of regional bands are happy to break even after a Detroit show, though. Just giving a heads up.

Damn... Yeah I doubt we would draw a lot. We've never been out that way. People like Colossal or Slapstick out that way? "ex Colossal/Slapstick" might draw some maybe?

I'll try out LJ's. I was just looking for a spot to bridge between Chicago and Cleveland. It's still early on so it might not be Detroit. We've already changed our September schedule like three times already.
