  1. Hey dudes, I'm still acclimatin' to tis new fandangled board, but I wanted everyone to know that the vinyl version of Nothington's Borrowed Time is officially out today. I honestly think this was the best record we put out last year. Shit damn. So yeah, head down to your local store and stuff, or hit up SRC or Interpunk: http://interpunk.com...fm?Item=203288
  2. This mofo is now up on iTunes, Spotify, etc. Hopefully 7"s show up next week and will go out that same day!
  3. Naw. But Red Scare is doing the vinyl some time this Fall.
  4. Oh, and another song streaming! http://absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=2784252
  5. Yo m'dawgs, Alt Press is streaming the first song off this 7"! http://www.altpress....y_dear_colorado Get in there.
  6. Soon! In fact, it'll be up on iTunes/Spotify on June 12th. But an earlier stream is also likely...stay tuned and shit.
  7. I believe we're doing a reddish thang, so as to match the artwork. We normally don't advertise (or even DO) that collector stuff, but I knew it would come up here anyhow. Enjoy!
  8. I think this very well may be the best Red Scare EP we've ever done. "Hold On, Dodge" was pretty sweet though, hmmm... I also think all four of these songs are better than anything on "Delusions". Put it this way, we are stoked. I promise this shit is great. The band should have it with them in time for their dates with Teenage Bottlerocket, but you can also pre-order it with us. Initially it was supposed to be late June, but it might be July now. We'll ship 'em as soon as we have them. Order here: http://redscare.storenvy.com/ 1. Dear Colorado 2. 25 Years 3. Note to Self 4. Take Me, Stabler
  9. There's a unique color we're doing for the tour dates and Red Scare mailorder if you care about that sorta thing. Get 'er here: http://redscare.storenvy.com/ 01. Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room - “The Radiator” 02. Brendan Kelly and the Wandering Birds - “Malthusian Clown”
  10. Pretty sweet interview/podcast with Brendan from the recent show. Hilarious/adorable pre-show jitters on display: http://chicagoverseunited.com/2012/04/new-cvu-podcast-cover-story-series-brendan-kelly-and-the-wandering-birds/ TLA fans will be stoked, it's pretty in-depth and nerdy.
  11. He did a recent interview via Skype with a cute girl dressed up in a banana suit: http://punkworldviews.com/brendan-kelly-interview/ Discussion of shaving people, so there's that too.
  12. Actually, the leftovers all ended up in the trunk of Bren's car that night! I reckon all the Reckless shops have them and so does Laurie's and Reggie's.
  13. Here's a new interview on AP.net: http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=2725722 Mostly talk about The Lawrence Arms, but there's some funny shit in there too...
  14. Maybe the most well-thought-out review of them all so far. Nerd alert, for sure: http://thepunksite.com/reviews.php?page=album/number_d/brendankelly_idratherdie We also announced a Euro tour and split 7" with Dan Andriano today: http://www.punknews.org/article/47063
  15. Pretty in-depth interview/review: http://blog.do312.com/2012/04/a-melodious-journey-brendan-kelly-the-wandering-birds/
  16. Nice to finally hear an explanation for the lack of LPs. Just a thought -- Since your relationship with Fat is so strong, team up and do a "Colored Repress" of Death by Television through their mailorder, even though it is not a Fat release. Would probably sell 1000 copies in a couple days. DBTV LP is definitely imminent. Word!
  17. Ooof. Tricky question. Made even trickier because this is the one time Fat Wreck helped us with distro on something. Reason being is that my distros (yes, plural) have a habit of selling out shit and never paying us for the product we send them. It's actually THE main reason we don't do too much vinyl: so expensive and we end up getting stiffed. As to why is a long story, but this latest round was due to a guy who ran ILC developing an Oxycontin addiction. Rad, huh? Fat will obviously pay us for any sales as they have a sterling rep, so buy it from who ever. I gotta say that without Interpunk Red Scare would've been dead a long, long time ago. So those guys deserve all the business in the world. As for the best way to support artists/labels with your dollars...hate to say it...iTunes! By the way, thanks for asking. I don't expect people to give a shit about this stuff, but I do appreciate the sentiment. Hopefully the day will come when we have an honest, stable distro and we can line your dreams with LPs.
  18. I remember inquiring with a big label that's quite popular here among VCers and they told me that they go virtually unused. That was about a year ago... Here's another review. Guy compares it to Marilyn Manson, Gogol Bordello, and Joy Division: http://moonandbackmusic.com/archives/6972 While fun, I still think my favorite comparison is to Rick Springfield.
  19. No offense taken! Maybe I'll revisit the idea since some of you seem to have your reasons. As you know, vinyl isn't our first priority, but I'll poke around. Good talk!
  20. So what exactly is your reasoning as to why its wrong to sell a test pressing? I kind of look at it as an artist proof on a print run. Just curious. I'll answer that when I have more time, but for now, here's a new interview that's pretty funny: http://popstache.com/features/qa/brendan-kelly-interview/ Odd Future discussed, always a good time...
  21. Fuck yeah, show-goers are the best! You see this, folks? Vinyl nerds need to get out more. Yep, buy it at the show and all proceeds will go to BK himself. Well, his wild-ass kids too... Seeya there, dude.
  22. I think I have decided to not capitalize on it. The good news is that there are all sortsa new labels popping up more than happy to exploit that avenue and they'll be doing a pre-order 9 months in advance. Man, those guys REALLY got it figured out! Seriously though, in regards to the other stuff, I'm right there with you in terms of how stoked I get on music. But no test pressing in the world is worth more to me than the actual songs. The collector market has nothing to do with what we do, it just seems to get in the way.
  23. Yikes, you guys misunderstand a lot of things. First off, this isn't my livelihood, not sure where you get that from or how that would affect my opinion. I don't feel like I am "thrashing" anyone or "whining" by pointing out that the online vinyl scene is a bit kooky. Don't be so sensitive. I honestly don't get it, and I don't understand how my confusion somehow equates to "not being nice". I'm plenty fuckin' nice! Here's the impasse: I'm having a hard time understanding why people buy this shit if they're not buying it for the music. Apparently the people on VLV and other forums feel the same way about VC too. And to be honest, I don't really care about people that just collect this stuff to flip it or put on a shelf. The music we work with is for listening. So while we're super stoked and gracious that people keep these bands healthy by paying for music, I simply don't understand why you wouldn't buy the album off iTunes if you wanted the mp3s. Hell, it's cheaper too! We've never had DL cards in our LPs (never been brought up til now either) and we never advertised this LP as having a DL card. I don't see what we did wrong? Further, it's silly and disingenuous to make some passive-aggressive dig/threat that "now you have to steal the mp3s" because of it. Lastly, I'm not familiar with DFA, but I've been putting out records in three different decades now, so I'll keep my own counsel on how to release an album. I do it for fun and the love of the bands, and I hope that's why people check out the music. It's crazy how different the response is between putting out a record and putting on shows. Shows are great because you get to see people face to face and everyone's having a good time and enjoying themselves. LPs are like the polar opposite of that, I hear nothing but complaints from people over the internet and questions about pressing numbers and color variations. Baffling shit. I've never used an emoticon in my life but I'd sum up this all up with this one: :-/ tldr!
