  1. fuck yes. we beat Algeria, we advance.

    not necessarily

The scenarios are as follows (GD = goal differential):

    England v. Slovenia:

    - England wins: England has 5 pts and a positive GD, Slovenia has 4 points and either an even GD or a negative GD.

    - Slovenia wins: Slovenia has 7 pts, a positive GD, England has 2 pts, GD inconsequential.

    - England and Slovenia tie: England has 3 pts, even GD, Slovenia has 5 pts, positive GD.

    USA v. Algeria:

    - US wins: US has 5 pts, a positive GD, Algeria has 1 pts, GD inconsequential.

    - Algeria wins: Algeria has 4 pts, a positive GD, US has 2 pts, negative GD

    - Tie: US has 3 pts, even GD, Algeria has 2 pts, negative GD.

If the US wins, no matter what happens in the England game they will advance. With the win they either pass Slovenia or England. With a win by enough goals and a tie in the England-Slovenia game the US could win the group.

  2. Both teams played incredible defense the whole game.

The Lakers played some of the worst offense Ive ever seen them play for 3 1/2 quarters and I still dont know how they won that game. I guess rebounding and those second chance points kept them in it long enough til they could make a run at the end.

Rondo probably gets MVP if the Celtics win it. I believe he almost had another triple-double last nite.

Kobe was the best player consistently through the Finals and I believe he wins the MVP even if the Lakers had lost. Now, given his performance last night I'm not 100% sure but before last night I thought it to be the case.

  3. That game was draining. Thanks for the well wishes, this was definitely one of the hardest series I've experienced as a fan. But I loved it. Orlando was a bit of a concern but they killed themselves. The 3 before that with Shaq were mostly easy series.

  4. No not for giroux, for Carter hell yes.

Sammy - maybe but if so there were rumors at the trade deadline and there were rumors Montreal wanted giroux. I think they wanted a small contract

So maybe it was all about the money. Both Halak and Price were RFAs this year. Obviously Halak is due much more money than Price given the playoffs.

  5. Unreal. And lol at the Philly fans who wouldn't trade for price.

You guys want another bandaid? You hoping for Turco? I mean who is out there. I would have loved price or halak.

I'm shocked about the trade. My guess is that Montreal didn't want to pay him and didn't want to take ANY salary back.

    I dunno

And didn't want to trade him East. Because if they did, and Carter was on the market they would have taken Carter in a heart beat. Carter is 100% better than what they got.

Montreal did not want to trade Halak to an East team and took the best deal they could get for him with that constraint. That's my guess.

  6. Letting Ladd goes does nothing to help with cap relief. He just leaves a roster spot, so you're back to where you started, no net gain.

Versteeg has the team on the hook for 3.1 million. You get rid of him And you're right at the cap but now you have 13 players instead of 14 so you have to replace him. Assuming you do so with a player making the minimum that nets 2.5 million.

Again, same with Ladd, Madden isn't signed for next year so letting him go just leaves an empty roster spot you have to fill. Provides no cap relief whatsoever.

Sopel makes 2 million next year. Getting rid of him means a player to replace him so you net 1.5 million. You're up to netting yourself 4 million.

Assuming you can get someone to take Huet he grosses you 5.6 million in cap space. And lets say you replace Niemi with a player making what Crawford make, 850K. So that's a net gain for Huet of 4.8 million.

All told moving the players you mention nets Chicago 8.8 million. Meaning you're under the cap by a few million and you still need to fill out the roster by adding at least 6 players. And it also means, you have 2 goalies on payroll.

If you use all the money you've freed you're now talking about having issues, much like Calgary had, replacing injured players who aren't seriously injured. I believe its going to take moving another 4-5 million in salary to put the team in a manageable position. Sharp makes 4. Buf makes 3. Bolland makes 3.375. Personally, I think one of those guys has to move.

And I actually believe Campbell to be pretty much unmovable at this point. He hasn't produced up to his contract by a good amount. He's the third best defenseman on Chicago right now and he's getting paid like the second. Hell, he makes more money than Anze Kopitar, to name one player who's most certainly much better.

  7. If it was for an entire series it would be a big deal. One game, not as big a deal. He's a good defender, but it's not like he's a primary scorer or anything. I think the Celtics can win game 7 without him.

Well sure, they can win the game but they're have a much better chance with him around. Just like the Lakers do if Bynum is healthy.

  8. I actually don't think the Perkins injury is that big a deal since it's only one more game. If this was earlier in the series it would have been a bigger issue. Sheed or Big Baby are more than capable of stepping up and filling Perk's shoes for one game.

Not sure its fair to say that at all. The guy has been part of the starting 5 that has yet to lose a series. I think its a pretty big loss.

  9. Hawks aren't in THAT bad of shape. They have plenty of pieces to trade and they could actually get quite a haul in return.

Hell, they could add Kaberle if Toronto took Campbell back. That'd actually help quite a bit!

I don't want to burst bubbles but the Hawks have 14 guys under contract for next year and are already over the total salary cap. They won their Cup and I'd do the same thing but there's going to be more than 1 or 2 player leaving Chi-town. I'd imagine Huet gets bought out first while Sopel, Versteeg, and Sharp all get moved. Don't forget, Seabrook is an RFA end of next year too.

  10. I had about 15 Dodger fans talking shit to me on Facebook before the Angels/Dodgers series started. After the first game was about half way over, I didnt hear a word from any of them haha. Loved seeing how that series turned out.

Also went to Yankee Stadium last Friday....that place is just incredible.

Dodger pitching lined-up ass backwards for the series to turn out any different than it did. No Kershaw, no Kuroda and the Angels had Kazmir and Weaver.
