Last year it was all about No///se and Lawrence Arms!
-
If I would have bowled last year, I would have missed la plebe, chris murray, jesse wagner, the inciters and a bunch of shit. It's all about drinking, wandering around and listening to music. I usually do a happy hour in my room at The D, and y'all be invited!
-
This will be my 11th Punk Rock Bowling...my favorite time of year! I've bowled, and while it's fun, you miss out on day shows, which can kind of suck. It's quite a different beast opposed to what it was back in the day. I've found that I enjoy the day shows and the late night shows best, and find myself spending less time at the actual big show as the years go by. Downtown Las Vegas is crawling with awesome people and we always meet new folks every year out. I've been staying at The D for the past few years(Used to be Called Fitzgeralds) and I love it there.
If ya'll have any questions, I'll be happy to help out, I'm an old vet. Hope to meet some of y'all there!

I was hoping that this wouldn't be crowdsourced. I figured that Jump up would handle the pressing.
-
I also back this distro. Great place to get a lot of shit all at once. Plus, they always pack their shit well.
-
Orange/Blue came in today from RevHQ. Looks sweet and sounds great. I'm glad to finally be able to hear the record without the gaps between songs.
-
Great tune, I finally got Tycoon on vinyl to replace my CD over at the oldies.com sale.
-
13 days to receive the records, shipped in a plastic FedEx type bag, with the records in nothing but a folded piece of thin cardboard.
Oddly enough, records were fine with the exception of one small dinged corner. Better condition than some records I get shipped in mailers in the US. It blows my mind.
-
Sometimes when I see a band name I think I know what they sound like without hearing them. I kept thinking that this band was going to sound like La Plebe. Probably because they both start with 'La'
I finally listened to La Dispute...boy was I wrong.

The Sammy Kay record is great, but I listen to the new debonaires quite a bit as well.
As far as new ska goes, didn't get too much this year, but the Japanese are hitting the streets hard with some great 7" represses, and I've been picking a lot of those up.
Unrelated note: Jump up records extended their black friday sale, 10LPs, 50 bucks shipped: http://jumpuprecords.com/blog/blackfridaysales/

I was gonna do a 'don't forget your mailman this holiday...' thread. I usually do a 'dinner's on me' card, with a gift cert for bbq. That's what we eat in Texas.
-
I ordered a day before this thread was posted and only received 6/28 records. But finally getting around to listening to the records I just opened my copy of Western Addiction's Cognicide and low and behold it is on yellow. That makes me feel much better considering the one I tried winning on eBay went for $104.
I also scored the yellow copy of western addiction, and the orange red /300 copy of No Trigger - Tycoon.

Yah, I'd rather wait and have it done right, ya know? When I ordered that Sammy Kay record, the download had a faint buzz over quite a few tracks(noticeable when wearing headphones) . I was hoping that was remedied on the vinyl, but my vinyl copy has the same buzz on the same tracks.

They have good stuff from last week!
Thanks for the heads up, picked up the 1 thing I wanted from RSDBF- The Budos Band 7", and also finally picked up a copy of for the world to see by Death. Free shipping. Boss.

Nope. I wouldn't expect to see anything for at least a couple few more months if not longer. As of the last update mid-October they hadn't sent the records off to the plant yet.

Avoid the Discwasher brush, even for new records. I have ruined a few rare records back in the day with one of those, when I started collecting in the 90s. Fortunately, I was able to replace them.
You have to use a vaccum powered record cleaning machine. Even new records benefit from an initial cleaning right out of the wrapper. They remove the "mold releasing compound" that keeps the record from sticking to the stamper.
You do have to make sure you are using a good velvet covered tube though.
I have not tried the Spin Clean unit yet, I have heard some good things.
Don't use the wood side on the records. That will ruin them every time.
I've had mine since the late 80's which was new old stock of the original walnut handled system of the 70's and I've never had a problem. By the 90's discwasher manufacturing had already changed hands a couple times and significant changes had already been made.

Fat need to start shipping in little boxes and not in these envelopes. All with bend corners, but they look great!
I received my records in a 7" box mailer...in fact, I always get 7's from Fat in a 7" mailer.
-
Does the Lawrence arms record come out this year? I could almost put that at #1 without even hearing it first.
I almost put "you are here" on my list, since the single came out in 2013, but the record comes out in Jan. I'll go ahead and put it on my 2014 list though.
-
I have the worst luck picking up shit from Fat. If anyone has an extra, I'm open to purchase/trade, let me know!
-
Don't know why anyone would ever commit to blindly purchasing 14, or even 7, releases from a "label" that just licenses random albums.
This.
Plus, all 14 releases are 'in production' yet they won't disclose the titles. Pretty scary considering the spectrum of releases being sold. I guess they're just trying to cash in on the subscription trend.
-
I picked out 10 of my favorite listens from 2013. I'm sure there are others, but it's hard to keep track of release dates.

-Sammy Kay and the East Los 3 - Love Letters
-Heartsounds - Internal Eyes
-OFF! - Live at the 9:30

I'm in, because I have discipline. Add me. It's mostly music related...and things that only I find funny after drinking.
