  3. VLMA (pronounced Velma) is a raucous grunge duo (now trio) from Ellicot City, Maryland. Stream/Free DL: https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/vlma-thumb-bucket Travis Kuncl (vocals/bass) and Alex Velle (guitar) recorded/produced this release with no computers-- 100% analog (including a homemade 150lbs plate reverb unit)-- and tracked both EPs in Alex's basement on 80's 8-track Otari mx5050 tape machine, which is the same model deck that was used for Nirvana's Bleach. The result is a clean yet dusty combo of early Mudhoney-esque grunge and youthful, charged-up garage punk a la FIDLAR. VLMA's self-titled release is due out October 28th on cassette and digital formats via Fleeting Youth Records. Pre-Order: http://bit.ly/1xfMEz9

  8. After numerous EPs, splits, and random DIY recordings, Philadelphia-based foursome Mumblr are ready to bare it all on their first full-length album, Full of Snakes, due out September 16th via Fleeting Youth Records. Stream/Free DL - "Philadelphia": https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/mumblr-philadelphia Pre-Order: http://fleetingyouthrecords.bandcamp.com/album/full-of-snakes Genre(s): Alternative Rock, Indie Rock, Fuzz, Emo Sounds like: Sunny Day Real Estate meets Weezer Full of Snakes is a phrase drummer Scott Stitzer made up to describe how he felt after a night of hard drinking, but when you hear the subjects lead singer Nick Morrison tackles throughout the album, it could easily describe the struggles, inner demons, anxieties, fears, and confused emotions coiling through his mind while transitioning from youth to adulthood. Every song is a cathartic release of emotion as Morrison reflects on the loss of innocence, race, relationships, self-esteem, and the fight against growing up over fuzz-fueled guitars and powerful rhythms. The first song from the album is "Philadelphia," a portrait of the city they live in, and love.
  9. Here are two more upbeat cuts from the forthcoming split from Austin-based party punks Basketball Shorts and one-man-Canadian-punk-band Surfin' Mutants Pizza Party. 10. Here are two more songs from the forthcoming split from sludge rock trio Zaleski (Ohio) and noisy post-hardcore foursome Ugly Zoo (Pennsylvania) set to release July 15th on Fleeting Youth Records (cassette/digital). Ugly Zoo- Jawbreaker: https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/ugly-zoo-jawbreaker Zaleski- Where Are We?: https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/zaleski-where-are-we Also available to stream/DL on bandcamp http://fleetingyouthrecords.bandcamp.com/album/zaleski-ugly-zoo-split
  11. Austin-based party punkers Basketball Shorts collide with one-man bedroom-punk alien Surfin' Mutants Pizza Party on their forthcoming split due out July 22nd on cassette and digital formats. If you like infectious, upbeat songs that reference skateboarding, video games, Forrest Gump, Macho Man Randy Savage, aliens, and nihilistic inebriation, than this split is for you! Both bands have a knack for creating memorable punk ear worms that'll crawl in and out your cortex all week. Basketball Shorts take care of the high energy party punk with grin-inducing 90s kid pop culture references and SMPP covers moody garage/surf punk for jaded skaters. BASKETBALL SHORTS- A LOT OF THINGS: https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/basketball-shorts-a-lot-of-things SURFIN' MUTANTS PIZZA PARTY- SK8-OR-DIE: https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/surfin-mutants-pizza-party-sk8-or-die PRE ORDER HERE: http://fleetingyouthrecords.bandcamp.com/album/basketball-shorts-surfin-mutants-pizza-party-split-cassette
  12. Ohio collides with Pennsylvania on the forthcoming split from grungegaze trio Zaleski (Athens, OH) and noisy post-hardcore foursome Ugly Zoo (State College, PA) set to release July 15th. LISTEN/FREE DOWNLOADS: Zaleski- "Red Walls": https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/zaleski-red-walls Ugly Zoo- "Jesus Sneakers": https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/ugly-zoo-jesus-sneakers The lead-off track from the split's a-side is Zaleski's "Red Walls," a song about someone who wants to kill you but they cant nestled under a blanket of fuzz-blown guitars reminiscent of bands like Ovlov and Hum. It's heavy due it's forceful rhythm and atmosphere but also because of D.J. Wymer's agonized wails and loaded emotion. Ugly Zoo's propulsive "Jesus Sneakers" is a cut from the b-side that touches on an uncomfortable sexual experience. A tidal wave of rolling bass and drums leads the way before it all crashes down into an onslaught of loud, aggressive guitars and vocals. The split features both bands' debut EPs: Zaleski's Void EP and Ugly Zoo's self-titled EP; two short but substantial unveilings from two emerging bands who have just begun tapping into their potential.

  15. New Mexico-based bedroom pop wizard, Balue, is preparing the release of his new album, Quiet Dreamer, due out June 24th on cassette and digital formats via Fleeting Youth Records. STREAM/FREE DL - "Charming Flow": https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/balue-charming-flow Balue is the bedroom project of Eli Thomas who began tinkering with instruments and computer sounds while bored in his dorm room. Inspired by the Denver music scene he became familiar with in college, Eli began recording and exploring different styles on a nightly basis before finding his voice as Balue. When the moon goes up, Eli can be found in his room with his head in the clouds trying to find the perfect song. These midnight meditations often result in dreamy, sun-drenched pop songs splashed with glistening guitars and spry electronic grooves. This is what Balue calls headphone music. Quiet Dreamer is wrapped in a bright and carefree surf aesthetic that are sunburned by warm guitars, wafts of psych-pop vocals, and a thick tremolo haze. Positive vibes are in abundance, especially in the spry collages of organic and electronic grooves, but Balue also mixes in quarter-life musings about time slipping away, 9-5 responsibilities, and other pangs of growing up. There's a little hint of Dead Gaze in his sound, which might stem from their vocal similarities, but his sound has more of an accessible sheen that activates seratonin levels and a desire to lay flat on your back in your bedroom-- with headphones on-- while the room morphs into a worry-free beach. PRE-ORDER: http://fleetingyouthrecords.bandcamp.com/album/quiet-dreamer
  16. Brooklyn Singer/Guitarist Ray Weiss' post-punk project Le Rug are preparing the release of their compilation album, Press Start (The Collection), due out June 17th on cassette and digital formats via Fleeting Youth Records. STREAM/FREE DL - "Harold Camping": https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/le-rug-harold-camping STREAM/FREE DL - "Dead In A Hole": https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/le-rug-dead-in-a-hole Le Rug is the ongoing project of Brooklyn-based singer/guitarist, Ray Weiss (Butter the Children, Red Dwarf, Medics [uS]). After numerous trials and tribulations experienced in early adulthood and with one of his first bands, Ray found his way into a psych ward. This rough patch inspired him to funnel his pent up energy and emotions into a new musical project, which eventually blossomed into the magnetic, unrestrained sounds of Le Rug. Press Start (The Collection) features 5 magnetic and pulsing post-punk releases from Brooklyn's Le Rug (32 tracks overall)-- 3 albums from when Le Rug was more active years ago (Sex Reduction Flower, Party Rock, Sticky Buns EP) and 2 new recent EPs released earlier this year (Dead In A Hole EP, Cut Off Your Dick And Turn Into Slime). The older material is more of the "deep cuts" variety in which the records were short EPs or singles that never saw an official release. 17. New York-based trio Dirty River are preparing the release of their debut self-titled album due out April 15th on cassette and digital formats via Fleeting Youth Records. STREAM/DOWNLOAD "RELEAF": https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/dirty-river-releaf Hailing from Rhinebeck, New York, Dirty River is rock trio that deliver debauched experiences and fantasies deadpan over serpentine open D rhythms. Their alternative take on lo-fi/rock/blues develops thick and murky like jungle fog, giving weight to lead singer Forrest Hackenbrock's stark, blasé breath. His tales of numbness, despair, and depravity are matched with wanton guitar fuzz and naked downbeats that feel uncomfortable yet alluring to the ears, like dirty secrets. PRE-ORDER: https://fleetingyouthrecords.bandcamp.com/album/dirty-river-dirty-river
  18. Rasputin's Secret Police- Freaks: https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/rasputins-secret-police "Freaks" is the third single from Rasputin's Secret Police's forthcoming album, Comfortable, due out March 25th on cassette and digital formats via Fleeting Youth Records. It's a song about being trapped inside of yourself while feeling overwhelmed with anxiety and hopelessness. The gated reverb on the vocals signifies that trapped feeling while the slow and sludgy guitar sweeps and traipsing drums conjure up a gloomy atmosphere.
  19. NEW RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT!! Rasputin's Secret Police- Comfortable // due out March 25th on cassette/digital formats \\Stream/Download// "Kids With No Friends": https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/rasputins-secret-police-kids Zoe: https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/rasputins-secret-police-zoe Pre-order: http://fleetingyouthrecords.bandcamp.com/album/rasputins-secret-police-comfortable Chances are if you live outside of Philadelphia, you have not heard of Rasputin's Secret Police. The duo, consisting of Brandon Ayres (guitar/vocals) and Josh Phillips (drums), have been making music together for over 13 years, but it seems as if their music has been locked up in the Philly basements they've set ablaze over the years, only available to those that know where to find the secret. Until now. Comfortable is considered RSP's magnum opus. It's the answer to the question of "What album do I start with if I'm going to listen to RSP." Despite it being their most DIY release, it's their most focused and accessible. Recorded on a Tascam 8-track digital recorder above a fishing and hunting retailer in Drexel Hill, PA, the album captures RSP's raw intensity as Ayres' fervid, semi-disturbed croons ride his equally ardent guitar scrapes while Phillips' impassioned drumming forces sweat beads to roll off your own head. The lo-fi, DIY quality of the recordings were left untouched, but it adds something extra to the sound they found during these sessions.

  23. Listen to "Lost in Reverie": https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/clouder-lost-in-reverie Pre-order: http://fleetingyouthrecords.bandcamp.com/album/clouder-sister-raygun Within the first year of being a band, Clouder played over 100 shows around New York City, generating quite a buzz around their wild and intense live show. Before long, the band was heralded as "Brooklyn's bad boys" and "one of the most exciting garage/psych rock bands to make a splash in NYC in the past couple years." Their 2012 debut album, Freakin' Out the Squares, was a favorite of fans and critics alike with their roaring, guitar-driven 60’s-inspired rock ‘n roll, and helped cap off a stellar year by getting them a feature on NPR's All Songs Considered as one of their Highlights Of CMJ.
