Go vintage for now if you want the best bang for your buck. Anything decently (e.g. Japan) made from the late 70s/early 80s should serve you well. Just make sure the turntable has a heavy base/plinth, heavy platter, counterweight adjustmnent, and anti-skate adjustment. I would personally look for something with a strobe and pitch control as well. Whether you want Direct Drive or Belt Drive an S-Shape arm or Straight Arm is up to you. They both have thier ups and downs.

happening to me now. does it take time maybe? by the way hi!
It took a couple days and then it randomly went away haha

The only other reason I could think of owning a portable turntable would be for when I'm out digging and want to try out the records I don't know the music of so I can see if I like it or not. However, the only worthwhile portable that seems to be recommended is an old Audio Technica Sound Burger from the 80s and they're a little hard to come by. So I just said fuck it and look up the music on my phone and listen to it there, if I like it, I buy it, if not then I put it back. Sometimes I just take a chance though and buy it without listening to it haha

Yeah I know - I saw it listed on there.
I already have a turntable - but I also have very little experience and thus have no idea if what i have is any good.
If you already have a turntable I would say pass on the Numark and look for something better if you're looking to upgrade. I would go vintage if you're looking to keep it under $100.
Things to look out for if you want a workhorse turntable IMO: Heavy, Pitch Control, Strobe, Heavy Platter, S-Shaped Arm. So anything Japanese like Pioneer, Technics, Sansui, etc from the late 70s to early 80s should get you something good for minimal costs. Belt Drive or Direct Drive is your choice. Both have their plus and minuses, however I prefer Direct Drive.

I usually just put mine on over the rubber.
Seems legit. Thanks.

That's awesome. I really need to get a tape deck.
Thanks! I've never been a big fan of cassette tapes but this player sparked a new interest in the format for me. Vinyl will always be on top though!
-
Not really vinyl related but I just got this sweet beautiful silver-faced Sony TC-FX505R Cassette Deck! Can't beat the price of only $5.99! Sounds good and matches the rest of the stuff in my system. Now I can make my woman a mix-tape for Christmas in addition to the other stuff I'm gonna get her. I really want to add a silver-faced equalizer in my set-up now.

These look awesome! Do you guys just put them straight on the platter or do you leave the rubber one on the bottom and put the slipmat on top?

Bonus points for the album! Love Ratt and Out Of The Cellar just rips!! For the longest time whenever someone wanted to hear my stereo or never heard vinyl records before I'd throw that on and just crank it.
Thanks! I love Ratt as well, probably my favorite glam band from the 80s. My favorite thing to show off the system right now is the 12 inch single of The Car's song "Hello Again" because it was pressed loud and the bass and drums really kick. Also Metal Church's album "The Dark" because of the way it was mixed everything just rips!

Oops hahah. Meant to put something there
I just have a tough time accepting it. I'm pretty hairy, too. Plus, I want to get more tattoos and I don't like that it covers them hahaha
Your avatar pretty much sums up what I am haha
A bear.
It was easier when I met my girl to accept it because she digs the hairyness. I completely understand your situation though. I'm not really into tattoos but I can see how that can be problematic if you want to display them properly.

I finally got an Expedit 2x2 to put all my vinyl in. So here's my setup now on top of it. I managed to get all of my amp's feet on the surface so its on there pretty nice and sturdy. It doesn't look too pretty but it works!
Set up:
Technics SL-D2 w/ Shure M97xeJVC A-X30 Super-A Stereo Integrated Amplifier
My speakers are some old Panasonic speakers that came with an All-In-One unit from the early 2000s. They actually sound surprisingly good to my ears. They sound better on this amp than they did on the old unit they came with. -
Anybody have any recommendations for a body hair trimmer that's not going to make it look like I actually sheared myself? I'm just not happy with the thickness of the hair
I'm not gonna be much help but I just wanted to say that I'm a hairy ass motherfucker. Like literally, hair all over my ass, back, legs, chest, and face. I used to trim, shave, and use nair. I eventually just gave up and accepted it. I've been happier that way. My girl likes it it too haha it says it keeps her warm.

They'll fix it.
I sure hope so. I already sent out an email.

I just got my FDR copies of Nocturnus "Thresholds" and Morbid Angel "Covenant" and they arrived scratched and scuff all over the place. I asked them to remove the LP from the sleeve so they wouldn't get seam splits. So the covers are fine, however everything else is not.
Covenant is the worse, big scratch on the A side that runs across the whole side, and other scratches and scuffs scattered across both sides. Thresholds has a couple long scratches and scuffs across both sides as well. I don't even want to play them.
Has anyone else got these in this condition?? Is this considered normal? Really? If I'm paying $54 for two brand new records I expect them to come in better condition than a VG. I have never ordered from Earache before and if they don't fix this, I highly doubt I ever will again. -
So I'm about 10 shaves in via DE. Some of the best shaves I've ever experienced. Shaving has become something I look forward to. I just bought a cheap start up kit from maggardrazors.com. Their M1 razor, Proraso Red tube cream, Vulfix pure badger brush, and I just ordered a huge blade sampler pack from Amazon.
First shave with Shark baldes was ok, no cuts. Second shave with Astra super stainless fucked my face up, I was putting too much pressure. I fucked up on my lower neck big time that day, haha it sucked. But since, I've only used Astras and I've had awesome shaves, just no pressure.
I'd like to upgrage my brush and razor, but I'm in no real hurry. I see people on /r/wickededge and they spend money on shaving like some of us do on records, its crazy.
Anybody that is curious about DE shaving, I highly reccomend it. If nothing else, you'll get a few hole punches on your man card.
I've been DE shaving for the past 4 years and haven't looked back. I use a vintage Gillette adjustable with feather blades and it's been the best shaves ever since I tried that combination. You don't have to spend that much because this tuff will last a long time. I have an Edwin Jagger brush that I use and it's been going string for 4 years. For those that are interested in a different way to shave definitely go with DE's! I can also attest to the better qaulity shaves you'll get!

The combination of the facial expression and the pure idiocy of the comment make for unshakable comedic synergy.
However, I definitely laughed far harder at some of the other highlights posted in this thread. This is better than I expected.
This is my favorite one haha

Compared to you guys, I'm REALLY new around here. I think I hold my own though if I do say so myself.
No d'oh moments yet. -
Dude this is classic. Comedy gold.

Blumpkin's FTW.

If you're blasting too soon you might want to do the stop and go technique that people use when wanking off. What I mean by that is you stop fucking and get out of there but you go down on her giving you a chance to recover but she's still getting simulation. Then when you feel up to it, you can go at it again. Just keep on practicing and sooner or later you'll get better at holding it in.

word. just offering a manly suggestion.
No worries.

get a fuckin' wrench or screwdriver and fix it. fixing shit makes you a man, not fucking chicks on the floor, dawg.
It's the springs in the mattress itself, not the frame. If there's a way to fix to fix the mattress springs without fucking up the mattress let me know. I've already tried rotating the mattress and I can't flip it over since it's a pillow top, DAWG.

Well, it was made by the same fella who believes good turntables are a sham.
Damn. Well I'm new here so I wouldn't know lol
I figured I'd answer to his inquires.

I need to fix my god damned bed. Thing squeaks so loud sometimes my roommate hears and more importantly it kills the rhythm and we end up just falling on each other and laughing our asses off.
Sigh.. Thankfully her bed doesn't squeak.. but the cat will just jump up and lay down next to us while we're getting it on. and then sometimes meows cause she's an attention whore. Which then makes me just laugh my ass off again.
The squeaks coming out of my bed are what made me ditch it and just put the comforter on the ground and fuck on the floor. Not as bouncy or comfy but no squeaks to wake people up.

What some people do is have a little piece of DRY Mr. Clean Magic Eraser near their turntable and dip the stylus in a couple times vertically to get the dust. Works good I've tried it myself but YMMV.
