I'm starting to think the same thing.

This just made my day haha I wish my girlfriend was a bit of a screamer, but she's naturally quiet. It doesn't help that I still live with our folks, so any downtime we have is usually at night when she or me sleeps over. Quiet sex it is.

Maybe the same reason people like to buy new turntables even though one can find qaulity tables used? I don't know.

I like that. "Cassette players have gone out of style, not out of production." It's very true! I must admit I've never really been a big fan of tapes. I don't think they sound all that great and hate having to rewind/forward. I much prefer lifting up a tonearm, selecting what I want from an ipod, or just a simple CD track skip. With that said, that Teac deck is badass.

What do mean "revive"? Some companies are still making decent ones. Both decks and portable ones.

Thanks! I don't think I want to go through that process again though haha It was worth it though because it looks a hell of a lot better. I have to be careful with the hinge areas though because they are a bitt cracked and I don't want them to fall off.

I haven't received them yet but I pre-ordered Morbid Angel's Covenant FDR reissue on black vinyl and Nocturnus' Thresholds FDR on purple vinyl from Earache. Can't wait to get em!

Around here a decent SL-1200MK2 is around $350, so $150 for a well used one doesn't seem so bad. However, I'm gonna have to agree with the previous poster. If you were my friend and the turntable was in that shape I would just give it to you as well if I knew you would make use of it. The most I would ask of my friend is to buy me lunch or something. Now if he wants to pay me for it, that's on him. I wouldn't necessarily ask for a certain amount up front though.

I caught the bug for vinyl again after about a 2 year hiatus and wanted to get a better turntable than I had before. I had an old Magnavox all-in-one stereo with a turntable equivalent to a Crosley. I finally found this Technics SL-D2 for a decent price locally. It's vintage right? I put a Shure M97xe on it. Cleaned it up and spent three hours buffing and polishing the dust cover with Turtle Wax rubbing compound (for the big scratches) and then finished it off with Meguiars Plastx. I think it turned out great!
