  1. Mike, you missed out on the other fist tats. Tick Twat was a good one. Also, great pics. None of my Paint It Black photos turned out.
  2. I preordered one as well. Never heard anything about it. For some reason I'm not that concerned about it, although a little bummed since it would be a great 10". Went ahead and bought the digital version. Shame not to have the artwork.
  3. Filthy stoked for this. If it didn't take away from promoting the band, I would keep every one of my copies.
  4. You should look into Terror Management Theory. We discuss it in social psychology a lot. It's an interesting way of linking peoples anxieties and motivation with thoughts of mortality. Has it's place in fears of change, persuasion, obedience, self-esteem.
  5. A lot of it has to do with culture. The USA is separated by water from other nations and it actively trying to build a wall between the only connected nations. European nations are much more numerous and compact and have seen more wars that required cooperation to end. I'm not gonna try to argue against anyone here. I just think that is a factor that should looked at. Centuries of history can really get people stuck in a rut. Enlightening their ignorance becomes impossible. My career path is going to involve trying to change these systems (conflict, policies, ideas) for the better, but I'm definitely leaving this god forsaken country to further my education in that area. Are protests in Europe as idiotic as these or do they make better points? Even signs I see around here (lets face it, I do live in Kansas, and way too close to Fred Phelps for that matter) have no persuasive or informative information on them. Obama's a communist dick, so don't vote for his shit. Give me a break. Please define communism before making that sign.
  6. I like to put "ketchup" and "relish" on my hot dog puns....wait....dammit. I never do it right!
  7. I'm writing this paper for my social psychology class. It just has to be about a particular human behavior. I was thinking about using the rise/fall/enjoyment/greed of bands/music industry as examples of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is when we are doing something because we genuinely enjoy it and think it is worthwhile. Extrinsic is when we are doing something because we are supposed to or get paid for it. For example, a band might start with intrinsic motivation and get better and better. Then when a major label signs them and promises them exorbitant amounts of cash to do what they love, over time the new extrinsic element could dull performance or caring. Perhaps this is what leads to the whole "bands suck when they sign to big labels" theory, or part of it. On the other hand many bands know they won't make money for a while, so maybe that would make the motivation less extrinsic. I was curious about other examples of this in music. Any thoughts, particularly on how piracy could play into this?
  8. I'm going through this right now. I have lived with her for 2.5 years and dated her for 1.5. Now it's moving into the " I should move out part" and she always wants to know why I don't want to be with her. She seems to brush off the obvious answers I give her. I'm almost incapable of dealing with it. It just didn't work and I'm afraid it won't again. Not sure I can deal with it again. It just didn't seem fair sometimes and I can't deal with the inconsistencies.
  9. I was up until 4am this morning watching this documentary. It is shocking. I think the shock value of the film was overhyped for me which kind of took away from it. It will none the less drive you a bit crazy watching it; the fact that so much came to fruition after he started making the film is just amazing.
  10. Yeah, awesome pics. The one where you are both in the that suspended cross walk is great.
  11. I work at the University of Kansas - Center for Research on Learning. It's a division of the Special Ed department which is apparently the #1 in the nation. The director of my department has talked with President Bush, which is neat whether I like Bush or not. I'm the Inventory/Materials Coordinator and do a lot of the work that the research professors don't want to do, as well as ship books and educational materials and help them set up conferences. For what it is, the pay is great and I get good benefits w/ about a months vacation a year. Honestly though, I haven't been too happy with it lately. The bureaucracy sucks and I think maybe an office job just isn't for me, especially now that they have me doing accounting work. I'm going on 5 years here and since I have started going back to school, work just sucks for me. I'm working on a BA in social psychology and I want to go to Europe to get my master's in peace and conflict studies so I can do some international peace work and what not.
  12. I wish I had this problem to deal with No, because when the shit hits the fan, it can be a pretty epic emotions/feelings slaughter fest... totally depends on the personality though.
  13. Holy shit! Tell me about it. I live with my ex and it is has been made obvious that she would like to get back together. I could use some meds at this point, haha. When there isn't anything to fight about anymore it really makes you see how you wished it would have been, and then you start thinking that's how it will be.
  14. School (what can I say, my classes are interesting right now), reading (sometimes books that prove to me how shitty work can be, this is called confirmation bias), getting back into skateboarding, riding my bike, spending more time on my record label/bands, scuba diving, kite boarding or whatever it's called... the possibilities are endless.
  15. Fucking "supposably" is the worst. Spot on. This might be the only one that actually makes me cringe or twitch just a bit when I hear it. It's almost an awkward feeling, as if I'm embarrassed for them, yet I also understand that they probably got this from their friends, family, and social connections...supposably. So I usually don't correct them. Maybe I should.
