Anyone have the matix runout info for the remastered pressing of Robbin' the Hood (this 2016 verison)? Just trying to see if it matches up to this recent Hot Topic pressing.

    • B0016317-01 LP01-A
    • B0016317-01 LP01-B RE-1
    • B0016317-01 LP02-A
    • B0016317-01 LP02-B RE-1

I Haven't looked bUt a friend just mentioned this an hour ago-ish.

He says both HT  RTH LPs have the same matrix: B0016317-01

    Evidently same stampers.

can't be the same as the remaster, since the first RTH HT press was before the Remaster by like 4 years. Different engineer too.

  2. I just shipped mine back. Box seam-split all the way around. A good crease, a dent along an edge, and a crushed corner from shitty packaging. Took them two weeks from the confirmation e-mail to get back with me, in the mean time I opened it, thinking it wasnt worth the hassle to send back. Second LP I opened was SHS. Side 3 has a 2" gouge in the record, about ha quarter inch wide. That pretty much secured the return. They better not give me any crap about opening it. Pretty Lame to have to ship the whole effing thing back. Glad I saved the box and packing material. Even added some bubble wrap for them. They sent me a 2-day Priority Mail label.

When corresponding with the rep he never answered my questions about replacement item being packaged better. Considering there were only two questions (1. Do I send the whole thing or just the box? 2. Will the replacement be packaged better?) It's BS he just ignored my question completely.
Averaged about 10-12 days for each reply. Worst customer service ever.
If I hadnt received this as a gift I would be even more irate than I already am.

Can't wait to see how much more BS will come with this fiasco.

    *Addendum:

Replacement box set arrived yesterday, the day after I shipped out the damaged item. It was a bit of a surprise, since a timeline for a replacement had not been discussed. I expected it to ship after they received the return.

packaging was augmented with some styrofoam corner bumpers and an additional layer of bubble-wrap. It worked. We shall see how these records look soon.

  3. Might as well sell my copy of Robbin The Hood while I can get some value for it and wait for the new mastering. I'm thinking that they'd have to re-mix the entire album as well. They can finally make the album sound as good as it should have the first time.

The space between Raleigh's "I hope you're recording this." And the the beginning of AYN will likely be removed, if possible. That alone is worth it.

If there's one thing I've learned, don't sell your OG until you have the repress in hand. Sure, you will miss out on a bit of profit, but it sure beats having to buy back an OG if a repress is cancelled.

Learned this the hard way with Mars Volta "Frances the Mute".

As far as the 40oz goes there will only ever be one version from Skunk, so that version won't become any less sought after. Everything else will certainly become less valuable.

For Sublime collectors, or completists it wouldnt matter if there was 20 versions of each. They will always buy one or two, because thats what they do.

  4. The way it was phrased made it sound more like he was just telling the story about Dr. Dre at Bernie Grundman but here's hoping they're mastering the represses there too. ;)

    This comment doesn't make sense.

Mike has been in the studio at BGM for a week now, mastering the original analog tapes for vinyl releases. No word yet on what exactly will be released, but it's safe to assume it will be the entire catalog that is currently available to the public, and a "special release" for RSD 2016.

  5.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! Would be awesome if it's Bellman cutting them. Very excited for this but as mentioned how can the S/T be improved on, the current press sounds great!

Bellman? LOLZ, No. It's Brian "Big Bass" Gardner.

I really hope SecondHand Smoke is included with these, could be the making of a boxset?

It will be, and no, there won't be a box set.

I really don't know how they can top the current version of S/T, it sounds great.

Considering it was mastered by Kevin Gray, it's likely it won't be.

BTW who the F is Miguel ? That weird R&B singer ?

I can tell you're a long time Sublime fan. "Miguel" was actually in Sublime for a minute.

  6. To be fair, the S/T was in press on black. 40oz hasn't had a press in five years, and that was another HT exclusive.

The Newbury pressing was a limited release on white, 1500 copies. Released in February and sold out in August. The black ST was pressed in 2008 and took 7 years to sell out. It was repressed last month.

I can see what you mean here, but I always attributed that particular case to the absurd price Newbury was selling those S/T's at. Anyway, I hope I'm just overreacting but it seems a little weird.

Truth. It was very high priced.

The ST is a much better product as far as records go though. Pressed at RTI, and mastered by Kevin Gray, one of the best vinyl engineers in the world.

  7. Is this still at 2,000 copies or have additional copies been pressed? Seems weird that this went back up yesterday and still doesn't show sold out on Hot Topic's website. Over the past few weeks these would only appear for a few hours (tops) before showing sold out.

It hasnt been repressed. 2,000 is a huge amount of records. It took Newbury 6 months to sell out of 1500 of the ST Sublime record. To put it in perspective.

  8. "Hope" was originally a Descendents song, and Sublime covered it pretty much to a T. Certainly the Meat Puppets took some influence from Descendents, as nearly every band coming from the underground in the 80s did. Sublime, too ("Thanks out to Bad Religion and the Descendents").

Also, I believe the consensus is that the man speaking over "Thanx" is actually Miguel Happoldt, an intern who snuck the band into a studio to record 40oz. Sure does sound a lot like Bradley though.

    Yes, It's Happoldt on Thanks.

He also happens to be a big Meat Puppets fan, and produced an album on Skunk called "Volcano," which was Happoldt, Kurt, and Bud.

Highly sought after by MP fans.

  9. They blocked the sale of that one that was supposed to be yellow marbled or whatever because the distributor or whoever it was was trying to release the original track list which I believe contained some uncleared samples.

No, it was shut down because it was a bootleg, or unlicensed/unauthorized release. It had nothing to do with the tracklist, which was the same as all other commercial releases.
  10. Man this really pisses me off! It's so damn difficult to get a copy of 40 oz and Robbin the Hood for a decent price!

I know HT release is coming but i really want it now! :(

Don't sweat these being cancelled. Even though the 40 was pretty, i would be more pissed about shitty sound quality, and they were from what I was told.

The knucklehead who tried to sneak the press through didnt have a decent master, (likely tried to use a CD as the master) and the word from Happoldt (Sublime's producer) is that the CD isn't as good as the vinyl master.

The only HT press I have is "Robbin'," and it sounds pretty good. I'm guessing it's probably digital though if it didn't come from Skunk.

  11. Yeah, the 10000 copies that exist are floating around there somewhere, but haven't popped up on eBay at all...

I was told 10, 000 shipped from the source I had that posted the pics. I'm not tight with the guy, but from what I know he did QC. Somewhat reliable, considering that is a pretty random number to throw out for BS.

Anything leaked at this point would be easily seenand MVD would be responsible to an extent. If there are loose copies they are being held tightly and likely wont make an appearence for years, in my opinion.

  12. Yea I'm wondering the same thing, I'll cry if its cancelled.

    Both copies are cancelled.

They were both unauthorized. From what I've been told the "40oz" was substandard sound quality, on top of everything else. Someone tried to sneak an unlicensed copy out under the radar. I know the majority of info about it. It was shady shit. Sad, mainly because the color choice was perfect.

I'm suspicious that copies will appear on the resale market since they were pressed, and it is unlikely that all were destroyed.

Word to the audiophiles out there. The original Skunk pressing of this record is the best copy at this point.

  13. More bad news..."Get Out" is not on this release.  :(
Which means it is likely that none of the other (OG Let's Go Get Stoned, and Rawhide) tracks from the original Skunk release are included.

Odd, because he originally said "Get Out" is on this release. Not sure if that means there is another track-listing error, like on the cranberry release from '06, or what.

Will update as I get more info.
