  1. The show was excellent. I really liked Wrong a lot. They came out swinging and played a pretty pummeling set. Rick Smith from Torche sat in on drums for them. My only complaint would be that Wrong didn't have more stage time.

For my money, they could have kept Nothing out of the lineup & split that time with more Wrong/Torche. Nothing had sound issues & didn't otherwise impress me. Torche was amazing as to be expected.

Overall, it was a great show. Ended up picking up the Wrong EP while I was there. I won't hesitate to see them again next time they come through Detroit.

  2. The sad thing is, you'd think they would want to fess up to their mistakes and be a little humble like say Amazon. I'll be very hesitant ordering more than one record at a time from now on from them.

Agreed. My three records showed up today in two different packages.  Two were in excellent condition but the third had a very small seam split at the top.  I don't like it but it's small enough that I can live with it.

What threw me was the packaging.  Two albums were shipped together in basically a tri-fold piece of cardboard with the ends exposed, covered only with packaging tape.  It's amazing they didn't get totally destroyed.  I will definitely have to pause before placing another order with them.

  3. Pretty sure everyone just got screwed. It took a while for it to actually react, so by the time it happened the label/retailers just didn't care.

That's too bad.  Hopefully they learned their lesson on that one and are handling it different this time around.  I ordered one as the packaging otherwise looks great.

  4. Yeah, https://archive.org/web/ & https://archive.today/ are both amazing resources.

I add a ton a of releases to Discogs, and like wikipedia sources are everything.

I always archive limited release buy pages so that I can link the archived page in the release notes.

Archive.today is a good source b/c it will archive Facebook pages and the like, whereas archive.org will not.

    This is really cool, thanks.

  5. If you order multiple items chances are you'll get multiple shipments because each item could come from a separate place and some places are quicker with shipping then others.

Good call. Five minutes after my post another email came saying that all shipped together. Kinda confusing communication but whatever. It's a good deal if it's one or three.

  6. Maybe their in-store vs online sales ratio is pointing towards online being a better scenario for them. Especially for UO, the purveyor of taste & leader of the vinyl sales.

I imagine record collectors are a different sort (see: pain in the ass) than the customers who frequent these stores otherwise (see: young, hipster, goth types). Sure there are crossover types who buy the records AND the awesome latest styles of clothes but perhaps those people are the more casual record collectors. So maybe they're giving up the retail floor space & taking inventory hassles, online price comparing, exclusives hunting, etc to a more singular channel. I'm don't believe records will have no floor space in another few years but who knows.

I could probably add a few more generalizations on something I know very little about but why ruin it.

  7. Musician's Friend usually offers a 15% off discount most of the time which will save you some cash.

Once in a while they also sell gift cards for 15% off as well. Last year I bought a $340 gift card for $15% off, which came to $290. Then I called them, asked for 15% off the Debut Carbon & paid with the gift card. A friend of mine did the same thing & it worked for him.

TL/DR; bought a brand new Debut Carbon for $290 from Musician's Friend.
