Does anyone have the new Coltrane 'A Love Supreme' 3xLP? I'm curious as to how it sounds? Some Discogs reviews mentioned some issues.
This pressing is really solid, imo. I grabbed it based on the feedback of a Vinyl Community member on Youtube that does a lot of jazz reviews. He collects Music Matters, Analogue Productions, etc. The feedback on this was that he thought it sounded as good as his Analogue Productions copy. Here's the video he did on it:

I am ready.

On Flenser's IG, they posted a test press being played and captioned "Friday 10am PT". Sounds like a repress.
This would be really awesome. Hate trolling Discogs for copies of this hoping somebody loses their mind and sells one for less than $50....

GoHastings is at it again with a 30% off select vinyl with code: SPINTHIS
-
GoHastings is full of surprises. The last go round of the 30% discount I picked up a Eric Dolphy's "Out to Lunch" jazz LP that was marked low at $10.63 fully expecting the cheap 75th Anniversary Blue Note reissue version.
So the album arrives today and it's the Music Matters, numbered, 45-rpm pressing which had sold out at the retail for $49 on the MM site. Between this and snagging that Kings of Leon box set for $12.99, the vinyl gods of good deals have smiled on me this week.

fugees side B mad distortion. anyone else?
Yep, I'm definitely catching noise on side B, tracks 6 & 7. Track 8 on side B is perfectly quiet, though.
I'll have to give it a cleaning & revisit.

Thanks for the feedback all, very appreciated! Everyone at DW has received records in the mail with dings or seam splits before so we definitely feel your pain and want to reduce this as much as possible.
That's not a bad idea for an option to ship outside the jacket, will definitely keep that in mind for future releases. Seam splits are generally not an issue though and we will help out anyone with a quick email to [email protected]!
I appreciate the quick turnaround on the seem split with on my copy. Excellent album, and excellent customer service.
Thanks.

Snagged Detroit show tix as well.

That's a great idea. A lot of seem splits would be eliminated that way, plus it would guarantee the current variant (in case of plant mislabeling). I don't want too either cause you're right, it is a hassle. Another two weeks shipping out and back for a replacement jacket is rough.
So are they replacing split seem jackets or were you guessing that they would if followed up on? Mine came with a split seem as well. I always assumed we had to eat it & smile (insert David Lee Roth joke).
Completely agree with the ability to request shipping outside the jacket. Would be great if this was more of a standard practice by everyone.

Snagged the milky goodness.

I didn't see it brought up in this thread but VMP is testing an exchange program where they allow you to take the future AOTM and exchange it for one of the 2015 AOTM titles only. For example, if you didn't like next month's Fugees, you could contact them and they would allow you to substitute it for Father John Misty or Black Sabbath. Of course it has to be done before shipping, etc. Might work well if you're a part time lover, but if you were in it for the full year of 2015, then it doesn't really have much value as you already have everything.
-
Still up this morning. Snagged one, thanks.

Low Flying Hawks have an album out this week called "Kofuku" on Magnetic Eye Records. Double LP vinyl can be found here with three tracks streaming. The band features Dale Crover (Melvins) on drums.
They also have a code VDAY20 for 20% off that is valid until 2/14.

I hope a Detroit date is part of this tour. Torche was pretty awesome when they came through last year.

Graves At Sea's "The Curse That Is" is up on Relapse. The Deluxe sold quickly but the blue/gold merge looks kinda purty.

Since I'm usually only a reader & not a poster to this thread, I'll get my posting's worth with this one.
On a separate subject, Consequence of Sound did a list of metal albums to watch for 2016. CoS isn't exactly the epicenter of all things metal & I'm not sure how I feel about their referring to 2016 as a year of metal renaissance but whatever. It's a decent list.

So the Fortress 7" is out on the 11th.

hopefully we'll see A CF newsletter soon.
Nice! I'm kinda hoping the b-side to Fortress is whatever this song is that they played on this last tour. I can't seem to find a name for it the last time I searched but they play it in this video and when I saw them in Detroit. The song starts at 29:40 minutes in & it's badass.

Got my shipping notice today, then got emotionally mugged a few hours later. Drag City's got some lag in their network.

The new band played an unannouced show at a super small club in L.A. last week (along with Charlie from FUZZ's new band). I'm surprised video from that show hasn't surfaced.
Do you know the name of Charlie's new band?
-
Bullmoose just tweeted that these are being released individually in Feb. 180g $20 each.
This is great to hear. I've been wrangling with whether or not to pick up this box set. Now I can cherry pick the specific titles I want from it.

Depends on what you're looking for but the Ferndale shop that was mentioned is Found Sound, on 9 Mile & Woodward. Great overall selection.

I'm not sure how I feel about this but as a child of the 80's, there is something to be said for having kids oriented vinyl available so maybe this isn't the worst thing in the world. The only records I was allowed to touch as a kid were my own (Disco Duck, etc) and they were titles like this until I was old enough to go to the store and pick something out myself.
