  1. I knew this would happen: I can't really bring myself to sell any Sonic Youth or Brand New stuff. Anything else though, which is still a ton of stuff, is all up for grabs. Thanks all for helping me out.

Thank you for pulling Sonic Youth out of the mix.  You have a nice collection & it was tearing me up on what I wanted to send you offers on as I couldn't possibly afford to bid on all of it.

For what it's worth, I think it's a good decision to hang to those.

  2. Guys, thats just the way it is. Brick and mortar stores need to charge a little mire to pay for their rent/lease. Online stores dont need to cover the same bills every month.

Support your local shops...before they are gone.

I agree with supporting local but there has to be a disclaimer in there that states that it has to be at a reasonable mark up.  I'm totally on board for a couple bucks above what I could get online elsewhere.  There are a lot of good record stores that get this part right.

But Bake's example sounds like a store that is a little bit more than unreasonable, where the pricing is pretty much ignorant to the market.  Businesses fail all the time because they can't get their pricing right.  Sorry, but I try to avoid supporting stupid because nobody wins in that scenario.  Whether they've never seen a computer, are trying to ride whatever new vinyl demand there is, or are a money laundering front for the mob, it's not a model for long term survival. Well, maybe the mob example is.

Someone earlier mentioned Dischord prices in records stores.  Back in the day, Fugazi had always been my bellwether for pricing in a music store.  If 7 Songs or In On The Kill Taker was priced the same as everything else, then proceed with caution.

  3. Got turned on to this jazz drummer by the name of Makaya McCraven who put out an album in January called "In The Moment".  It's up over on his bandcamp page and is definitely worth checking out because of how the album was created and well, how good it is.  It is available in various formats and of course, double LP.

"Nearly 48 hours of live improvised performance recorded at 1 venue over 12 months and 28 shows - culled, cut, rendered, and remixed into 19 potent pieces of organic beat music."

Anyway, I thought it sounded pretty good so there you have it.

  4. Got this today! Wow and early ...Little underwhelming for a deluxe LP...should of been 180g at least....But sounds amazing and is such a good record

I agree that it seems a little less than what they could have done for a "deluxe" version.  The record itself is a really cool color & the album is good but they're missing a little extra something in the package whether it be gatefold sleeve, poster/artwork, 180g, etc.  Just one of those little extras would have been nice.  Otherwise this should have just been called a limited edition.
