  1. In my opinion, have the fancy stuff. Have the obi strips, hand number everything, press each individual record on a different color to make sure they're as limited as possible...but don't delude yourself into thinking that anyone besides yourself gives two fucks! This is just a classic case of poor planning and a lack of creativity that surpasses *any* industry. Everyone tries to take the easy route out.

Side note: customer service at Erika totally rules. Did a project with them, and was the BEST experience I've had with any pressing I've been involved with. Might've been a more expensive route, but totally worth it.

  2. This is getting resolved, but I wanted to share that I have had people claim that they received warped records in the past and when I respond with "That sucks! Send me a pic of the damage and I'll toss another in the mail tomorrow!" I have only heard back from one buyer. Too often, I think people are honestly scamming for free records.

Secondly, if I offer media mail AND priority & they choose media mail during these hot summer months, I like to remind them that they chose the risky route.

Almost off topic: my mailman at my new house actually sets my records on the side of my porch that is in the shade, despite that it's away from the front door OR mailbox. He must be a collector!

  3. $19000 to press two records that are single LPs isn't even real. I can't even fathom that. I could almost press 8-10 records for that much.

Granted, I outsource very little for my releases, but I could seriously do like 14 releases for $19,000!

Or maybe I'll just release one record, but drive around the country delivering all of them by hand. Customers would still get them before they will get their Gatsby's LPs.

  4. I've got 4 12"s and a 7" from Anti-Flag records last week. They're quite a big (punk) band and have their own label. Got shipped in a cardboard box with some bubblewrap, all 4 vinyl's stacked and sealed. Everything was packaged properly but I think due to the stacking of the records they had a bit too much space to move around. Hence why I got a dent in one of the vinyl. Mailed them and will see what happens, because I've payed $28.30 ish for transport (most expensive shipment). Hope I'll get a refund or something.

But well. Anyone got tips on how to ship more records in 1 box? (Probably should all be shipped seperatly, I'm assuming?)

It may require more than just a basic LP mailer, but it's very feasible to use a single box and just separate it using pieces of cardboard. If you put the LPs together and place the cardboard between them and the 7"s all it would take is a little paper padding and/or bubble wrap on the sides of the 7"s to keep them from rolling around.

Most labels have the boxes from the record pressing plants that work well for sending out odd combinations of records or a large stack of LPs.

  5. You've got some seriously great stuff in there. Too bad I don't feel as though I could even make a reasonable offer on most of the stuff I'd love to own!

Is the DEP "Miss Machine" still available? That one should be in my price range at the moment. :-)

  6. Ordered this directly from the label. Currently waiting for the import and wishing that I knew Deathwish was going to be getting copies. Good recommendation, Juan!

I try not to post "We should be getting ______" unless I am 100% sure we are getting it. I wouldn't want people to wait for us, and then have something happen... yeah now... and stuff.

Definitely understand. I also have no problem supported a band or label directly, but I love DW and have zero qualms about spending my money in your webstore!

  7. Glad to see some love on this thread, thanks guys! I'm sorry that I dropped the ball about posting POs here for everyone to scoop up. :-(

Regarding the repress, we have hit a snag because the band is considering doing a repress via another label. My crazy hand-crafted DIY efforts take a while and don't afford for much profit and I refuse to sell these at unreasonable prices, so the band is considering offers from other labels that could score them better distribution and such.

In short, if you want to see what I have planned for the repress (which will be killer and TOTALLY different than the first edition), then you should all do me a favor and blow up their inbox/facebook/twitter/etc and let them know that you wanna see MOMR tackle the future represses as well.

    I'd love you forever.

Side note: thanks for the awesome pics sharkticon - you really made that bad boy shine!
