  1. I have some serious OCD with no only my storage, but also with my poly sleeves, so I figure I can share with you what I do and/or have done in the past.

I use two types of poly bags for my records, which I scoop up from BU. For me, this works out great because if I order 100 bags of each type every time I place an order, I get free shipping.

For single LPs or gatefolds that have a minimal spine, I use the 12 5/8x12 5/8 3 mil bags - they are snug fitting & don't have a seam over the spine. I should add that I HATE loose poly bags.

For double LPs I use the same bag except in the 12 3/4x12 3/4 measurement to allow extra space.

The 3 mil is a great size that is sturdy and clear without having that nasty seam. For me, the 2 mil versions are just too flimsy. Hope that helps!

  2. Hot Topic exclusive color limited to 1000.

Not sure exactly what color HT is getting but I believe the entire pressing is on 180 gram, comes with a download code and will have bonus content which I assume is extra tracks on the vinyl.

EDIT: I think HT's color is white w/ black splatter but that could change.

When speaking to band members at a recent show, they said that the vinyl release will include the songs from the 7" release. It is probably safe to assume that those make up the "bonus tracks."

  3. Well, maybe if my store would've gotten some copies instead of more Pink Floyd LPs, I would've picked one up already! I'm the SM @ #185, Travis. ;-)

Can't you do 1 dollar for store shipping or something.

As always I see I should have been more specific and/or literal. I've ordered an additional copy on the kiosk as well...but I STILL can't wait to listen to it...because (needless to say) I'm still waiting on a shipment to arrive.

So I must repeat - I can't wait to spin this!

  4. I wonder how much you could save if you didn't do labels. No screen printing, just no labels. Handwritten A and B maybe. For the DIY punk bands of course.

I did a release last year that didn't have labels. Most plants won't even do it, and it probably only shaved maybe $75-$100 off of the total cost of the release. I had to shop around a bit to find someone willing to tackle the project.

Not having labels on a record increases the chances of it warping, as the label serves as an extra stabilizing agent.

Knowing this risk, I insisted that my artist vision required it, signed the special waiver, and TA DA!

  5. No need to bug the dude. He's working hard to get these out, so sit tight and they will arrive as soon as possible. It's not like he's just sitting in a pile of records listening to all of them laughing at us poor suckers who can't do the same.

i didn't bug him; he specifically told me to email him.

i don't think you read the rest of this thread.

I definitely read the thread. I was saying that emailing him once probably sufficed. Anything beyond that is overkill. Can you imagine how many emails he must be getting regarding these releases? Too many, that's for sure.

  6. justin seems to be a little iffy on the communication end. i emailed him on the 16th, then again on the 22nd and haven't heard anything.

  7. dan keyes has been tweeting about various records on vinyl for a while. i'd be stoked to actually see this happen, but i have a feeling it's going to be a bit of a wait. i do know that keyes tweeted once that the challenger LP will be out on jackie darling, the same label that the cd / digital version came out on. i'd put money on jackie darling putting out the others too.

There is a CD version of this available?! I've only seen digital.

Side note: would sell my first born for some Recover on vinyl. Couldn't care less about order of release as long as they all exist at some point!
