i ordered on the 15th, about 15 mins after this post went up. still haven't gotten an email and the pending debit fell off my acct and my card hasn't been charged again since. that'd be pretty messed up if people who ordered after already got it.
Are you serious?? That's ridiculous man...If it fell off your debit account then that definitely indicates it didn't go through. Have you tried emailing Hip O?
-
when did you order?
The 18th ...I thought I made in time buuuuuut nope haha
-
I am honestly, extremely pleased with this album -- the golden brown vinyl is beautiful and the sound is amazing. Next week, if it's still available, I'm definitely picking up another one.
It would be great if "That Sea, The Gambler" could be pressed because there are some gems on that album.

Here's some good news....NOT
"Dear Hip O Select Customer; Unfortunately, due to overwhelming demand and the limited nature of this item, Friday Night Lights Vinyl, is no longer available for sale and has been canceled from your order. Please be assured that your credit card has not been charged, as we only bill once an item has shipped.
Thank you again for your patronage. We would look forward to better serving you in the future.
Sincerely, Online Customer Support"
I'm depressed haha

4 song 7"? Non-"punk" bands with songs that are likely at least 3+ min each? I'm sure that sounds fantastic.
Haha I guess that was directed to me
I was being sarcastic because someone made a post in the thread about how crazy shit is on eBay and there was a Lawrence Arms Buttsweat & Tears 7" for some crazy hundred-dollar amount that came with a ridiculous denim jacket (the seller(s) put together) and some random VHS tape
-
PSH! Are you kidding me?! That's a GREAT price! Too bad it doesn't come with an awesome denim jacket and a VHS tape!
-
Jesus I must have gotten lucky in 2005 with SP back when I bought the Anatomy of a Ghost CD (pre-Portugal. The Man) and the t-shirt...yet I do recall thinking then it was too much for shipping haha
cactusbot, what's "FSF"?
-
holy shit that's great!
I'll be seeing them in April so I'll pick up the vinyl there and get just Sarah to sign it haha
-
I bought the Tim Barry Manchester LP from HT and I'm pretty sure it was half black half brown. I'm on my phone righ now so it hard to check my tradelist but if you want to check it you can see what color I got from HT.
cool cool -- yeah I received the grey/black swirl from VC, and I figured HT would receive the color with 700 pressings.
Thanks guys
-
wow i would loved to have picked up that Pearl Jam Ten record for $5...however I cannot be too upset because I was one of the few to get the Thrice boxset for less than $14...I have 4 HT's within 60 miles, so every time there's a holiday coming up, I make sure I have enough gas money to hit up all of them haha -- and Travis, you're right: Hot Topic wouldn't sell it if it wasn't profitable; it just depends on the location. The HT in the mall in which I work sells a good amount of vinyl, but they only get but so much. Typically it's empty unless I ask the ladies to get some sent from another HT.
Travis, do you know which color of the Tim Barry the HT received?
-
Yeah what if there was a satellite with a massive needle that could play the grooves of saturn's rings! Idea for a t-shirt perhaps haha
-
Wait, it's working for me now. I was just able to put an order in, so try again folks.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! +1
-
god damnit I canNOT believe I missed this thread! haha congrats to all who were able to grab that record!!!
-
THRICE ALCHEMY INDEX 4x10" FOR $13.50!! THANK YOU HOT TOPIC CLEARANCE haha...i also picked up the Chris Wollard & The Ship Thieves -- fantastic album!
-
I've had these and haven't really listened to them as much as I anticipated. I figured they could go to someone who really enjoys them.
All of the prices include shipping (media mail) and all of them only have been played twice at the most. I will of course use LP mailers.
The Velvet Underground & Nico -- S/T, 180g Black LP -- $14 or BO
Ryan Adams -- Easy Tiger, Orange LP -- $9
The Lawrence Arms -- Oh! Calcutta!, Black LP -- $6
The Lawrence Arms -- Cocktails & Dreams, Orange 2LP -- $14 or BO
Anchor Arms -- Cold Blooded, Grey Marble/Swirl LP -- $6
Just PM me..I'm currently at work but I will do my best to check my inbox.

Wouldn't it just be AFS that's postponing this record, not Brand New? They've already put out their own version for preorder -- what they wanted (procrastinate! music traitors).
This preorder shouldn't be an issue if it's just getting closer to the day the album is actually released.

I totally forgot about Bright Eyes!

Here's one I had a couple years ago. One of these days I plan on actually writing a fleshed out story about it, but I wrote it down as soon as I woke up. here it is cut and pasted from the groggy version I wrote down. Someone explain to me!
I was dropping off this girl I used to work with. Anyway, it was in front of a bank. On top of this bank were offices for other businesses. We go in to the business next to the
bank. We are sitting in a waiting room, and meet two young women who
are also there waiting. During the wait, another lady comes
running out saying that her kid has been abducted. Over the next
day, the usual high profile abduction media circus takes hold. A
female reporter starts digging into it pretty heavily, and ends up
meeting with the women that my coworker and I had met in the waiting room.
They tell her they can help recover the child. The police start
looking at them, but can't come up with anything, as they were there
in the waiting room, and people saw them the whole time. Well
secretly the reporter starts working with them, and this part is
blank, but somehow they get the daughter back. They reunite the child
with the Mother outside the same bank. Pull up in their car, with the
daughter in her car seat and all. She had apparently been taken from
the mothers car. The reporter is there on her own with just a
cameraman, and the police haven't been called. The mother puts her
daughter in her car, and they drive off. Reporter gets her story,
mother gets her daughter, and the two women just drive off. Scene
cuts to a businessman named Mike(I think). He is angry and pissed
that the mother got the daughter back. Apparently he had masterminded
the abduction. But he has no idea who the two women were. Or how they
retrieved the child. I ended up waking up then to him talking about
retribution. Even though the police then dropped the case as they had
no evidence, and had no need to press on.
Jesus haha -- I had to review that story fives times just to glue it to memory. This one is a little more difficult to interpet because you have so much -- GREAT STORY though!
Hmm..perhaps this happened (or will happen) in real life and maybe you'll run into the situation where you can save the woman's kid (or save 'Mike' from making another attempt)...buuuut I doubt that will happen haha
These are shortly thought-out interpretations:
-
[*:0tn5cvbs]You and the girl could just be the fact that you're coworkers and discussed money -- where did you all work (in real life)?
[*:0tn5cvbs]Being co-workers, you will have the atmosphere of other businesses listed in the dream -- do you remember any names of the business?
[*:0tn5cvbs]The rest confuses me! It seems a bit incoherent with all of the women in the waiting room, and this random woman that runs in about her child. I'm also confused about what exactly the cops and the reporter did.
Throw in some more descriptions and I'll see what I can do haha
If I don't reply back with the next 30 minutes, I will tonight after work.

Thanks for the insight dan. Definitely will be more proactive w/ writing the dreams down. I used to do it waaaaaay back when.
No problem man. Sorry I wrote so much haha -- psychology excites me.
I noticed you've said you graduated college "about a million years ago" and you just asid "I used to do it waaaaaay back when" -- that could be another thing that might influence your dream is that you consider yourself "old" when in fact you're only 34! Your mind/subconscious puts you back into your youthful self which might've been clumsy, forgettable, etc. (high school/college) and it seems that perhaps you want to be youthful, but decide to shun it because perhaps you don't want to be seen as 'immature'?
You may have a shit-ton of responsibilities making you feel 'old', but there's still so much you can do to feel like a "kid" without the 'appearance' of being immature. If I've gone too far, just say something so I can shut up haha
-
I didn't really get much into them, but The Felice Brothers are okay in my opinion...there's one song I really enjoy called "Ruby Mae" -- I feel like I need to look into more of their music.
-
Their new one, "Oh, Glory. Oh, Wilderness", that just came
out in the last couple of months, is on Obscurist Press/Bakery Outlet
If you like Ugly Casanova, you should check out Holopaw. The singer from that band is 1/3 of Ugly Casanova. They're on Sub-Pop.Hell yes haha -- thanks for the info

I often deam that my teeth are falling out, which, according to most dream interpretation texts means I'm afraid of losing control.
I also have a lot of dreams where I'm about to do drugs, and it turns out to be some other substance. Like I'll be about to fix and I realize the smack is actually cinnamon or chalk or something.
I've heard from a couple of people that dreams of your teeth falling out usually mean someone you know is dying. Messed up I know.
As far as recurring dreams, I say you actually write them down. A lot of people actually think they have had the same dream multiple times but thats not the case. Whenever you have a dream, you have that same dream about 15 or 16 times in one night. If you wake up in the middle of the dream you may think it's recurring just because you already had that dream although it was in the same night
That's what I forgot to mention, JWOWW -- as soon as you wake up, write down as much as you can remember! I keep 3x5 cards and some pens next to my bed so whenever I wake up from an imaginative dream, ink meets paper.
I believe the more interested you become in one specfic, peculiar dream, the more you can find out about what's going on in your head and dig into your subconscious.

Greeeeedy! I fucking love them!

Ugly Casanova (lead singer of Modest Mouse had a side project years ago that was pretty cool and had some folk influence)
If you like Ugly Casanova, you should check out Holopaw. The singer from that band is 1/3 of Ugly Casanova. They're on Sub-Pop. Their first album is really pretty alt-country with a few electonic flourishes. They're playing Harvest of Hope this year and I'm really bummed I won't make it.
Holopaw? Hell yes I'll check them out! I'm always open for any kind of new music and being that they're on Sub Pop, you know it has to be good haha. Thanks buddy, +1
