  1. I often deam that my teeth are falling out, which, according to most dream interpretation texts means I'm afraid of losing control.

I also have a lot of dreams where I'm about to do drugs, and it turns out to be some other substance. Like I'll be about to fix and I realize the smack is actually cinnamon or chalk or something.

I hate those teeth dreams! It seems like whenever I worry about getting a cavity, that dream will come up -- sometimes they don't even fall out; I'll grind my teeth until they turn into dust.

  2. Damn dan...that's a pretty good interpretation. And it makes sense.

Some background...I'm 34...I'm in my career w/ auto insurance. There is pressure to be had right now. Mostly family/home due to a bit of financial struggles but also medical/health, not on my part though. But affecting me nonetheless since it's family.

Yeah whenever we fall asleep with some sort of built-up pressure, the brain will let us know by piecing together what is most familiar to it! Believe it or not, our brain thinks for itself haha. Being that you've had this dream for 10 damn years, it's so easy for your brain to just pull out that file from storage, and because you recognize it so well you're fueling the brain's fire haha

Now, I'm trying to think about your bookstore dream... you received something that was unexpected which could possibly be a precognition or premonition! Receiving the book could indicate you're about to open up a new chapter in your life as in you might make some great epiphany that could help yourself/your family (overall it's optimistic, to me)

It's tough to stay positive when shit like this happens -- it's almost like we should live in a dream so that reality can be pushed to the side. My mother was diagnosed with cancer and almost died a few weeks ago, and I remember having horrible dreams (one of which I was at her funeral) and to combat that I continually thought about things she did for me when I was younger and eventually the dreams turned into optimistic feelings. It sucked, but it's all I could do because I hate dwelling on shit.

Remember this: If there is no change, there is no growing up.

I've thought about this everyday and make an attempt to look differently at the world, or simply life around me. I'm 22 and I attend Shepherd University in West Virginia, and I work at a Parks & Rec and American Eagle -- I feel like now I'm just starting to "grow up" by making small changes in my daily habits.

  3. The Snake The Cross The Crown--Cotton Teeth or Mander Salis

I remember I received "mander salis" for free in front of the 930 club in DC on the way to see Kevin Devine -- we listened to it on the way back and damn it was good!

    My choices:

    • [*:bsbcyq5e]]Kevin Devine
      [*:bsbcyq5e]]Iron & Wine
[*:bsbcyq5e]]Gregory Alan Isakov (on 'This Empty Northern Hemisphere' he covers a Leonard Cohen track called "One of Us Cannot be Wrong" which is absolutely amazing) -- Check out his other albums That Sea, The Gambler and Songs for October
      [*:bsbcyq5e]]The Shins
[*:bsbcyq5e]]Right Away, Great Captain! (Andy Hull's side project -- lead singer of Manchester Orchestra)
[*:bsbcyq5e]]Josh Small (you probably indicated that with the 'et all' but his stuff is amazing!)
[*:bsbcyq5e]]Pablo (they toured with Kevin Devine years ago and put out a 7" that was hand numbered and on 70g -- still for purchase)
[*:bsbcyq5e]]The Honorary Title (they have a mixture of folk in the music, but the lead singer Jarrod Gorbel has a solo album with some folk influence)
[*:bsbcyq5e]]Sea Wolf (lead singer from Silversun Pickups is the guitarist!)
[*:bsbcyq5e]]Ugly Casanova (lead singer of Modest Mouse had a side project years ago that was pretty cool and had some folk influence)

  4. For the past 10 years or so, every so often I have a recurring dream in which I am either late for class or missed an exam of some sort. It always takes place in high school or college. Bear in mind that I graduated college about a million years ago.

If the location is high school, it's always the one I went to when I lived in Louisville, KY. I only went there for two years as we moved. But since I can always remember my dreams, it's always me sprinting down the hall from my locker to class to get to an exam...which is usually for English class...and I end up being locked out of the classroom. Some dreams have it in which I missed class the entire year and only show up for the final and of course I have no idea what's going on.

Last night's dream was college-related. I was at the bookstore buying the necessary books for all my courses. When I asked for assistance in finding the books, it turns out that they were all for courses the school has not offered in years. One class (which I remember clearly) was "The History and Socio-Culltural Impact of the American Civil War". But the bookstore clerk...who was more like Giles, the Watcher/Librarian from Buffy the Vampire Slayer...still found the books and gave them to me.

At one point I researched the possible meanings of these dreams but didn't find much.

Maybe I have to lay off the spicy food at night. Ha!

Anyone else as weird as me?

My interpretation of your dream(s) is that you're still unprepared in life (whether it's just being late for work because you spent one more minute on the computer, or procrastinating small projects that could've easily been done when they were first presented to you), and in the subconscious being unprepared is being "immature" -- which is why your dreams take place in high school or college.

Are you under pressure right now for any reason? Family, job, etc? I don't know how old you are, who are you haha, and I can only assume you have a job in the record label business(?).

In order to combat the panic or anxiety in these dreams, you need to focus on lucid dreaming where you take control -- if you can make the realization it's a dream while you're in it, you can then stop running and just say, "fuck it i'm going to beat up the principal" or you can get to your class and convince your teacher to allow you to take the test.

I could probably go on forever about this but I need to do some school work for my communications class haha

  5. I bought the Nevermind repress a few weeks ago from Hot Topic and I want to get rid of it. It actually sounds amazing on my turntable, but I need some quick cash. It's still in great condition.

    Nirvana Nevermind 180g: http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/Music/Sounds/Vinyl/Nirvana--Nevermind-12-Vinyl-LP-264633.jsp

You can check my ebay feedback: http://myworld.ebay.com/djones841987/

I'm only asking for $12 ppd, just PM SOLD

If you want pictures, I can put them up in a few hours

    Thanks xxfesterxx!

  6. so the profile lp is a good turntable on a budget, but for the most part the ttusb is not that awesome?

Yes -- as for Ion turntables, the Profile LP is great; however, the ITTUSB puts out the same quality sound, but it's a bitch that the record continually plays until you hit the pause button or just move the arm away.

the headtowall guy has a nice ion turntable, but I do not know much about it.

Check out the new USB turntable from Brookstone.com -- I think it's still $100.

I had the older one that had the SD drive so that I could record music directly onto the memory card as 256 kbps mp3 format, then throw that ish on the computer. Very cool, but it didn't have a good sound (too much treble). The new one doesn't have the drive, but it is definitely better than mine haha

  7. Haha you're probably right -- does Travis work for shockhound (assuming that HT received all of their vinyl from them)?

I only buy music (CD/DVD/vinyl) for HT but I help Shockhound out a little with their vinyl. HT doesnt get their vinyl from Shockhound. When I secure exclusives of vinyl for HT, we let Shockhound get in on those too tho.

If there are every questions about HT vinyl just ask me here, no need to get a store to check on it cause they will just be emailing me anyways.

That's fucking sweet -- I'll surely do that!

  8. i have one and it actually sounds good.

Do you have the profile LP or the regular ITTUSB turntable?

If you have the profile LP -- you're right, it does sound good!

The turntable is hooked up to a temporary speakers in a CD player, but even through that it sounds good.

My other friend has the ITTUSB and someone has already mentioned the fact that the records keeps spinning when the grooves run out -- that shit is annoying haha

  9. My aunt made me get her this one: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10130179&catid=15421

She said it's really good and worth it

Noticed that it's a Canadian site, so the price is Canadian

They have the same turntable at KOHL'S for $119.50 -- just get a coupon from them or wait until the next big sale because they had this bitch for $60 a couple weeks ago!

I bought the Profile LP for my buddy and it has an automated arm return and two buttons: switching between 33 1/3 and 45 rpm; the other for stopping the play of the record. The design/look of it is actually fucking sweet!

As for the cons, it's annoying when you walk by because any small vibration will affect the sound for that quick instant; however, just by keeping it on a shelf/tv stand/sturdy furniture you will be fine haha

He hasn't tried using the recording software, but past Ion recording experiences have sucked so don't worry about it.

  10. sorry about all the confusion, the gold on the first pressing looks kind of green depending on which one you get. The burgundy does have some pink, too.

There have only been 2 pressings so far

    1st pressing - on gold/burgundy (200)

    2nd pressing - on frosty green (500)

When we first pressed "Tall", we did so only because we really wanted it on vinyl but we didn't think we could sell very many. To our surprise we sold through of the first pressing and have been doing well with the 2nd.

I have been listening to rough mixes of Josh's new album and holy shit, it is the greatest 70's folk record ever. People are gonna be blown away

I cannot fucking wait to hear his new album! I'm pumped for the PO that probably won't happen for a while haha

As for me receiving the 1st press, was it an accident? Either way, I'm grateful as hell

  11. I'll swing by the neaby Hot Topic today and see what the ladies will know about getting this 7" -- they always email their vinyl distributor for me to find out when shit comes in haha. I'll post (hopefully beneficial) info later tonight

they're probably just emailing Travis, who posted above.

Haha you're probably right -- does Travis work for shockhound (assuming that HT received all of their vinyl from them)?

  12. I started a new thread 30 minutes ago titled "Josh Small 'Tall' Green/Grey info" because I thought I had received those two colors -- well apparently my mind was lost because I got home to take pictures and Side A/B is red; Side C/D is dark green!

I just received this album yesterday, and my buddy has the same one but his LPs are "Frosty Green" which was supposed to be this!

    Was there a 3rd pressing??

  13. I noticed my Crystal Castles album had smaller holes so I forced the first record on there and almost couldn't get it off -- I just used a pen on the second one

Also if you decide to just force the record onto the table to widen the hole, be sure to twist the record as you're pulling it off so you do not break the album!
