  1. Twitter was amazing tonight. I was at a show and was having all the luls.

This is kind of like when someone's failing miserably at a track meet and there's that slow courtesy clap at the end. "I mean, you finished but...*looks at watch* yeah..."

  2. Basically anything. Different people use it for different reasons. It's a blog. You can subscribe to other ones you like and they all show up on a dashboard-style feed. You can reblog or like a post with one click (usually. Unless they've got it all myspaced out and use html overrides. worst.)

I just started last week or so and I'm hooked. It gives me a place to dump things I find on stumbleupon.

    think: Twitter with pictures.

  3. but that's just the thing...is the demand that high? There seems to be copies of this all over the place still, readily available.

I actually bought the red that came out awhile back. My only copy of the record. Nothing against you guys for pressing a great record at all, just not seeing the need for it right now.

Perhaps my local market is just flooded.

you do realize that people outside of your town buy records too, right?

Yeah no shit. I'm just speaking from my own perspective. It's rare to find many good albums around here so when I see one that's consistently in stock I make note of it.

  5. What I meant was, there are either people that are going to agree with the kind of things being taught there, and they're going to watch that documentary and find absolutely nothing wrong with it. And there are people that don't agree, and they're going to view it as absurd, creepy, or worse. But it's not going to change anybody's mind about anything. Even the people that ran that camp and sent their kids their thought it was really even-handed and that they came off just how they wanted.

So yeah...people are just going to see what they want to see in it.

Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

You're right. I would hope that at least a few took a step back, an outside look at how incredibly disturbing it truly is. Most Christians wouldn't put their kids through this shit so it's safe to assume they thought it was nutso too. Anyone on the edge of deciding to join that type of congregation might see these docs and say "You know, I'm crazy for Jesus but not THAT fucking crazy." That's where I think the most affected audience lies. Can't imagine that many people saw this and said "You know...THAT'S the way to go!"

  6. I think the term "reactionary" Christian is more fitting.

And people see what they want to see in that documentary. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I felt it was pretty straightforward. The camp leader/pastor whatever she goes by (I prefer "closeted lesbian Jabba the Hutt") clearly states that she sees no issue with brainwashing children into Christianity because "that's what the Muslims are doing". Seeing those kids bawling their eyes out because they "sinned" was really hard to watch. This doc further emphasizes the guilt and shame pushed upon the Christian population as a whole. If you can take children who probably can't even read the bible and tell them they're going to hell because they dance for fun instead of for the lord (or something equally ridiculous, yes this was in the video) you're exploiting THE largest, most susceptible population of Christians for radical profit. They had some stat that said somewhere around 1/3 of Christians are children. It's clear they have no choice in the matter. Whether they escape it physically it's still stuck with them mentally. Each of these kids is truly fucked for life.

"Who wants to come up here and give up your life for God?"

    precisely.

  7. checked out Jesus Camp today...

recommended. as if you needed another reason to hate radical Christians, this'll get your blood boiling.

there are some unintentionally funny lines/segments which i think would be enjoyed by most of you with the amount of snark i see 'round these parts.
