Pro-ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB>Pro-Ject Phono Box S>Audioengine A5+ speakers upgraded with ortofon blue stylus I will hopefully upgrade my speakers sometime this year, but I enjoy having active speakers as it simplifies my setup and options are seeming a little more limited staying active.

I just switched over from a 120 to a debut carbon esprit and it is a very nice upgrade. Keep in mind though, the turntable is 600 alone and then you still need a pre-amP. Although, if you just started listening to records, I can't imagine the 120 being that bad. I'd make sure you are setting it up right. I got a good few years out of mine and it sounded pretty good overall without any issues.

Yes, Was just makIng sure keeping the red cart was ok and it wouldn't make a difference.

Hi guys, So I just got a new Debut Carbon Esprit and have a 2M blue cartridge to switch out for the 2M red cart. Should i just switch the stylus and avoid messing with the whole cartridge? The back half is the same on these two models aside from the color of the 2M, correct? The tool that was provided by ortofon is a flat head screwdriver where the turntable has more of an allen wrench style bolt and I don't currently have one that fits. I'd rather not fuck with it but wanted to make sure that there'd be no difference in quality. Thanks!

Had a feeling that might be the case. Thanks for the input. The HD6 are pretty pricey too so saving a few hundred more for a substantial upgrade sounds like the best plan.

Hey guys, I have lurked here for a long time but finally signed up as there's so much great advice and conversation here. Before the end of the year, I am upgrading my setup. As of now I have an ATLP120 with the upgraded AT120e cartridge hooked straight in to audio engine a5+ speakers. I am upgrading to a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB + ortofon blue cartridge + pro-ject phono box S preamp. I was debating on upgrading my a5+ to the audioengine HD6 or possibly going to a different brand all together. Any opinions on this would be appreciated. Are the HD6 really worth upgrading? Is something like the Klipsch r-15pm a good option or is that pretty much a lateral move? Any opinions on the setup as a whole are welcome too. I'd imagine it will be a significant upgrade from where I'm at now, yes?
