  1. My wife and I got a 30% off coupon, plus the $15 Hot Cash, which is for the week of 1/15-22, but you evidently have to hold onto your receipt to use it in the store. Otherwise, it's an online code for $15 off any purchase over $30.

They're evidently having a bunch of other sales this weekend, but they're not sharing what they are.

  2. I did this last year, and it was a ton of fun - a different horror movie every day for the last two weeks of October. I'm not doing weekends this go-'round, because who fucking reads blogs on Saturday and Sunday?

Anyhow, the whole thing can be found right here - http://www.nuthousepunks.com/blog/?tag=halloween-marathon

What movies are you guys watching this season? Anything I ought to check out that might've slipped below my radar?

  3. Hey, so I like getting people to visit my blog, and you like people to know about your band or label, so howzabout sending me records to play on my podcast or review on the blog? I'd also love to share advance MP3s, or talk to you about your 'zine, or any of a series of things. Needless to say, we're a little shy of new material 'round here, so feel free to check out the blog, see what you think, and hit me up via DM or e-mail.

Alex at Grave Mistake, Sam at Traffic Street, CJ from Big Eyes, Daniel from Sorry State, and assorted other people can vouch that I'm not a crank.

  4. It's your wedding. Play whatever you want. I'd suggest staying away from profanity-laden lyrics, especially considering you're going to have older folks there, but it's your call. At our reception, we took a playlist that was culled from pretty much everything we had in iTunes at the time. I'd just play tracks, and my wife would say "yes" or "no."

We ended up with a lot of murder ballads and oddball stuff that fit our mood. The first two songs that played were "Delia's Gone" by Johnny Cash, and the Mountain Goats' "No Children."

  5. Easiest: if you have a DVD player in your computer, play it, then use Audacity and the record onboard sound option (stereo mix). Once you've got the whole bigass track, split it up using "add label at selection," and "export multiple." You'll have the option of exporting as WAV or MP3. Use WAV, then burn 'em off. Piece of cake.

If you don't have a good soundcard (i.e., if you're using a laptop) hook up the line-out audio on your regular DVD player (or X-Box, Playstation, whatever) to the line-in on your computer. Then follow the instructions as before.
