I'll ask again, any idea when the contest ends?
Is the winner the first person who gets them all correct? Because I imagine more than one person will get them right.
Even with guessing the colors, though? There's definitely a pretty big number of possibilities once you factor in color.
-
Yeah, guessing the colors was the hard part. I spent a good 15 minutes debating whether or not that box set was from Virgil's personal collection or the store inventory. Argh!
-
SH = Suburban Home.
SH is also my initials, but I don't have a roster.
-
There's definitely no image showing up for me in this thread. Anyone else?
-
I buy from whatever online store/distro is having a sale at the time. I love being a bargain hunter.
-
Well for the people who answered -- was your 11th record that little sliver behind the "trees" or is that pink thing on the right a record, too?
-
Virgil, are you counting the corner of a release behind the "tree" one? Because that seems to be the only one I am stuck on.
Also, are you counting the box set as 1 or 3?

Jimmy Eat World - Static Prevails with different cover art than the CD. Found it for $3 used and wouldn't trade it for the world.
-
The American Football LP is available at http://www.polyvinylrecords.com on regular black or 180-gram black.
The One Up Downstairs was never physically released -- it's only on iTunes (and great, btw).
-
The Volta Do Mar? Really? That band is (was?) so bad-ass. No idea if they're still around. Their original three-song demo EP still smokes.

I think everyone here needs to invest in this shirt:
You can buy it here:

Anyone else know of some good vinyl-related clothing us nerds can rock?
-
Both my Insound and Kill Rock Stars orders came in today.
From Insound:
Okkervil River - The President's Dead 12"
Sparta - Porcelain 2xLP
Ted Leo/Pharmacists - Living With The Living 2xLP
From Kill Rock Stars:
The Decemberists - Picaresque 2xLP
Elliott Smith - New Moon 2xLP
Elliott Smith - Elliott Smith
Why is every single distro alive having vinyl sales right now? It's completely decimating my credit card. Virgil, wanna join in and mark some stuff down in the VC store?
-
I don't like how Recordnerd adds together all your totals, though -- I'd like to have specific totals for how many 7"s I have, how many records I have for trade, etc.
-
In the new issue of AP (out in August) "Half-Fiction" is one of the 10 influential records from 1997 that I had profiled for our "Class Of '97" special. When we got a hold of Bill their drummer to tell him and do an interview, he was like, "Really? Us?" It was so funny.
-
Too much of an investment for me to go without knowing who's playing...which sucks, because it would be sweet to lock in airfare and hotel as early as possible.
Looking at your list of records, I can tell you that you'd be very happy if you attended.
-
That list is missing the one record Virgil actually put out himself -- the Discount/Cigaretteman split 7"!
-
I have a list of confirmed bands supplied by Tony, the guy in charge of the Fest. It's not for circulation yet, though.
-
Oh man, huge mail day.
First, a friend at Warner Bros. sent me all three of the Built To Spill vinyl reissues -- stoked! I already had the original pressing of "Keep It Like A Secret," so if anyone's interested in buying that off me, hit me up.
My RevHQ order finally came in, too:
Since By Man - Pictures From The Hotel Apocalypse LP (gatefold, on black 140-gram, out of 1000)
Motion City Soundtrack/Matchbook Romance split 10" (on white)
And randomly, RevHQ threw in a copy of the Black Widows - Stops A Beating Heart 10" on Reflections, which is way out of print (considering it was re-pressed as Black Cross and *that's* out of print).
Stoked on life!
-
Leatherface is not on the list of confirmed bands I've been shown. Sorry.
-
Are you asking about Leatherface or is there another UK band I'm supposed to be thinking of?
-
What is the strangest place you've ever seen the logo/name of a band appear?
Example: When I was walking around in some small town in Sweden in 2001, I stumbled upon a bright yellow-and-blue Swedish postal service mailbox adorned with a Weakerthans sticker right across its front.
So imagine this:
With this across the front:
(The front font, not the back graphic)
What's your story?
-
My list has seemed to vanish from their server; is this happening to anyone else? Please, tell me it's temporary, as it took waaaaaaaay too long to type up initially...

Toledo is the worst ever.
A plane I was in got struck by lightning over Toledo once. And when I was working Taste Of Chaos last year, the venue in Toledo was an ice rink -- we had to set up all our shit on top of very thin pieces of plywood which covered said ice. It was freezing.

Oct. 26-28. They've been confirmed for a few months already.
I've seen a preliminary lineup from the Fest 6's organizers and let me tell you, no one will be disappointed.

I'm no math major, but that means there could be dozens if not hundreds of permutations. Because you have to get every single record's color right (I'm betting, since it seemed like all of us figured out the 11 records).
