  1. well, i can definitely testify that there was a U.S. and an E.U (maybe U.K.?) pressing and I owned both of them. the sound from the E.U. pressing was far more superb, but a bit flimsier than the U.S. pressing. in the last 10 years or so... i've found an abundance of U.K. sellers with "dead stock" and selling eighties/nineties records new/not in shrinkwrap records by the box load up on ebay..

the following subject was posted, however, since we're on the topic of ebay sellers from the U.K with "seems too good to be true" stock.... just thought i'd add this one... the greatest find from a U.K. ebay seller with "dead stock" was around 2002... this seller had about 5 copies of elliott smith's XO on Bong Load.... and three copies of eels' "beautiful freak".... all NEW, at 14.99 sterling each. i bought one of each. record collectors take note of this, i'm not kidding....

i'm not much of a collector, i just love my music on vinyl.

  2. the following was purchased new...

flaming lips "hit to death in the future head" german LP $14.99

hum "you'd prefer an astronaut" black vinyl $8.99

modest mouse "lonesome crowded west" 2x12" LP $11.95

however, the biggest score thus far was at a swap meet in the Bay Area around 2002-3. amongst the many merchants with useless swag in the back of their auto, one guy had some records lying about and i noticed a samsonite train case (a jewelry case...) which said "records" on it and was closed. the moment i opened it i saw about 30-40 7"inches and saw the greatest treasure a record collector such as myself has ever seen... amongst these were original misfits (bullet, etc.), minor threat, kbd, necros records from the early eighties, converge, and a whole slew of screamo records from the early nineties, including some emocore stuff. i gasped, and showed my girlfriend one of the records...a cap'n jazz 7", her eyes dazzling, put it back in the case, closed it. immediately i asked the guy how much for the case.... $6 he said.

i gave him $10... and walked away.

i've sold most of these from the case since then and have made a bit over $1500 just from the 7"s thus far.

  3. Smudges... perhaps. But the scuff marks... doubt it. Best manual record cleaner I've ever used is the Nagaoka Rolling Cleaner... Had mine for about 10+ years now and still has another 10+ years on it! I've use it about once a week...

I've heard from a few that they've had theirs for more than 20 years! Also depends on how well it's kept and how often it's properly cleaned....

  4. it's time for a Grandaddy B-Sides/demos/singles compilation LP folks!! (similar to Jawbreaker's Etc.) and a vinyl pressing of The Windfall Varietal!!! yeah...

for nostalgia's sake. How about all Dismemberment Plan's albums (in case it wasn't mentioned yet)??

Weezer's Pinkerton deluxe vinyl edition with all the b-sides... another album that i've always, always wanted on vinyl was Superdrag's "Regretfully Yours".

Necros' back catalog, Go Sailor's self titled (cd only release on Lookout), The Queers "A Day Late and a Dollar Short" (cd only), The Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack. Beulah's "Handsome Western States", all Cake's albums (aside from Motorcade which was just repressed...), all Eels' prior albums (i was hoping that the recent singles and b-side collection would have a proper vinyl pressing...), Rilo Kiley's "Take offs...", a Morrissey box set with all his albums (not the singles), The Rentals "Return of..", all Shy Child's albums, and last - but certainly not least......

All Hum's albums (even though I have them on vinyl already!!)

  5. white vinyl... sold out! (per the jade tree email... and their site)

I purchased the white vinyl yesterday morning (28 Apr) and set aside another in the online cart yesterday afternoon... checked it this morning, the cart states I have one item, however, when you checkout, it states "your cart is empty"!!!!

the links for the white vinyl are still up (as of me typing this)..... but it's a goner.

glad i was able to grab one....

  6. anyone else order the t-shirt bundle? the bolt is raddd... always wanted a cap'n jazz shirt.

as for the shipping... yeah, $30 to Hawaii... but worth every cent. i recall the last order i placed on Jade Tree was Pedro The Lion's Control & JTB's Perfecting Loneliness on vinyl around 2003 or so... and that was shipped via UPS as well... it'd be nice if they had a Media Mail option..

the white pressing will be sold out in no time.

  7. Contacted Midheaven... note that LP is no longer available thru their site, sold out. Dave from Midheaven commented on the color variations and that copies sent from their distro is clear... green is a Hot Topic exclusive in which "they have nothing to do with", which is odd that one comment above stated they ordered and received a green one (where did they order from)?

Also contacted Hot Topic over the phone as the stores do not carry the LP format (CD only)/website does not have a link to purchase the LP either, although the website states that the CD & LP is an "upcoming release", in which the CS manager stated none of their stores have the LP in stock, but may be carrying it in the near future... ??? and that they have no further info as to if or when they will be stocking the LP format.
