  1. Good list from here:

    http://new-vinyl.blogspot.com/2012/02/record-store-day-5-april-21-2012-rsd12.html

    • Original Soundtrack---Empire Records (2LP w/poster)

... Empire Records! hopefully it's a gatefold jacket with a Rex Manning spread on the inner jacket! ha.... There were tons of songs from the film that didn't make it on the official soundtrack, and there were some fan made bootlegs (track listings were chronological to the placement in the film). I'm hoping they don't fuck this one up and leave out those missing tracks..., however, I'm probably getting this one for sure...

Another 90's soundtrack that deserves a vinyl pressing.... Angus!

So, it's Empire Records and the Flaming Lips for me... maybe the Dirty Beaches split 7".

  2. moon safari, the virgin suicides score, and talkie walkie were grand... others were a bit blah to me.

i actually enjoyed what i heard from this one... hoping there would have been a domestic release, perhaps from astralwerks. 30 pounds for the LP + DVD is a bit steep...

and the DVD is PAL.. not NTSC? looks to be region 0 (ALL).

  3. No Media Mail? Trying to kill a guy with shipping costs...

I stopped with the Media Mail after countless people complaining of it taking 4-6 weeks to receive the parcel, sometimes up to two months during the holidays (no joke)... it goes via boat folks. After hearing of the abundance of records being annihilated via Media Mail, I stopped shipping via this method. I don't like how eBay states up to 7 days for Media Mail, that's bullshit. Even from the West Coast to Hawaii, I've never received a Media Mail parcel that took under two weeks. I'm offering Media Mail for the children's records though ... 38 records total. And to offset the constant rise of postage costs, I list everything at $0.99.

  4. Hello VC...

I've some fine records up for sale from Billy Bragg & Wilco, Green Day, Hum, Jawbreaker (including the Chesterfield King 12"), Jimmy Eat World, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Radio Dept., a collection of children's records (Disney, Sesame Street, etc.) and more...

Also have a few band shirts from Weezer, Maritime, and Jimmy Eat World for the Small folks like myself and some random items.

Help a brother out, here's the link:

a bit more info here: http://pitchfork.com/news/45583-punk-supergroup-off-return-with-new-album/

    can't wait for this one...

wonder if this one is getting the pettibone treatment, again.

  6. So....

In 2009 (September, to be exact) Asian Man announced they would be re-issuing this sometime in 2010....

In September of 2011 I asked Mike from Asian Man about the update of this and he stated that the Popes may be releasing it on another label and just waiting to hear back from the band.

I received a reply from Josh in October of 2011 who stated Born to Quit is scheduled to be released "February 2012".... no mention if it would be on Asian Man... perhaps a bit "hush, hush" ???

It's now February 2012.... any news yet if this is going to be released?

  7. once upon a time, i was going to to this... really. just hadn't the time. i believe i even had an uncompleted draft somewhere in my documents folder. some interesting folks.. and collections, i must say.

anywho, one of memorable ones was from a female (and i believe she had a pet dog in her photo?) and someone posted beneath it.... "WOULD."

in regards to a resurgence of the vinyl collector of the month, my response? hell yes. bring it.

  8. Has anyone ordered from them lately and received their order?

Their site hasn't been updated since September 2011, and they haven't had any recent releases. Their newest arrival is New Order's Bizarre Love Triangle.... ?

I have noticed that at the bottom of their site, it no longer reflects 2011. It says "All content @2012 Aural Exploits"...

  9. Scissors for Lefty - Underhanded Romance

This was actually pressed by Eenie Meenie a few years ago... however, it's not the entire album, just "selected tracks."

    http://store.eeniemeenie.com/product/scissors-for-lefty-underhanded-romance-selected-tracks-lp

There's actually several albums that I wished Eenie Meenie would have pressed on vinyl, Space Needle's discography, the remaining Irving releases, all Goldenboy's albums, and lastly, the benefit comp "Dimension Mix" with Bruce Haack covers from Beck, Eels, Apples, etc... Reiko stated it was due to finances.

  10. greetings.

so what are the odds of obtaining an un-played copy of Hum's "You'd Prefer an Astronaut" on vinyl (the U.K. Dedicated version)?

    interested? keep reading.

i'll be moving to the fine state of washington by summer of 2012 (more like April or May) and i'd like to find employment prior to our relocating. "our" being my wife, son, and i. and by "employment", i'm implying work for myself to support my family and i, within reason of course. the uncertainty of our times may delay things a bit when finding work once i move there... hence, i'm posting this thread in hopes for that someone searching for Hum's LP may be able to offer assistance...

employers, or individuals who have knowledge of employers in washington state (not D.C.), kindly P.M. me and i'll reply with info regarding my background.

the individual with information leading to a steady job in WA will receive Hum's "You'd Prefer an Astronaut" on vinyl.

i've decided to use an alternate username, stars (obviously, for this posting), rather than my usual username here on vinyl collective, so be assured, i'm not just here for this posting.

    serious inquiries only.

    thank you.

  11. for those of you who have slept on this - if this does happen, get it and don't wait! I watched the last press of this sit around for a few years and figured it'd be around forever until one day it was going for $70+. Fortunately, a fellow board member had a copy and traded with me for something I had that he wanted.

the plain recordings reissue was around for a while for about $15-$20 a pop... never thought this would have sold out so rapidly... ebay, gemm.com, discogs...all gone (regarding the black reissue).

aural exploits had an exclusive red vinyl LP limited to 1000 a few years back...(i've got #600/1000) and even the black vinyl on their site is sold out.

  12. once upon a time...

i had three copies of the domestic release (two black, one green), and one copy of the UK release on Dedicated (black vinyl) of "you'd prefer an astronaut"....

including all Hum's 7"s, and Electra and Downward on vinyl...

    all have since been sold.

i've submitted requests to a few "reissue" labels over the years regarding hum's "you'd prefer an astronaut" such as Plain Recordings and Light In The Attic... this album needs a proper vinyl reissue.

i think i was even considering getting a tattoo of the zebra many, many years ago....

one of my fave albums of all time...
