  1. i havent ACTUALLY been smiting him every hour, on the hour guys. come on... haha
  2. Okay, plain and simple. They would have sold them either way. They could come out and say, "this press is not heavyweight vinyl and doesn't sound as good as the upcoming one...but there are four colors". Guess what? People still would have bought them. I've seen a copy of Deja go for 100 dollars that was stated "this record is really scratched and does not sound good being played, the packaging is in great condition though". This is how some fans are, and it seems like the majority of BN fans are. Also, I'm pretty sure the band would think anyone that buys 12 copies of an album is a serious van and a little absurd. I understand people wanting variations. But honestly, it's the same record. Therefore, no one has to buy all the variations. If someone bought one of the first edition, then this one came out...they'd have to buy two records if they were solely upset with the quality. But again, they could easily make back all the money on Ebay reselling it. With your gold you're in even better shape. I'd sell it, buy the new one in whatever color I am most interested in, and enjoy my better quality record and heavier wallet. that's probably what's going to happen. but lets be real, the gold is going to significantly drop in price now anyways just due to market saturation. and yes they would all sell if they came out at the same time or all the release info was there, but it would have saved a fan like me, who doesn't have a shitload of money and has other records he wants to buy a lot of grief becuase i would have been able to decide right then and there what i would have wanted out of the entire selection. and on a side note, i'm pretty sure there was a mastering defect on the 2nd pressing of deja, cause my A/B sides have sounded like shit sense i took the plastic off.
  3. You buy records to listen to...if you're looking for investments there are a lot better places. Also, unless the gold was more than 25 dollars I don't see how you're going to lose money? Basically, people are pissed because everyone was so excited and tried to grab every copy of the Triple Crown release. Now this release, the better one, is coming with more for people to empty there wallets. But again, anyone who really is a collector or BN vinyl listener knew this was coming. If you feel really disenfranchised, throw yours up on Ebay. You'll make at least 100 dollars and that'll be a shame because as far as BN that's not a big turnaround. Take the money, and buy a copy or two of this release. Buy it to listen to though, because there can always be another release. This argument is like when someone pays 500 dollars for a first press and then a repress comes along. If you pay that much for a piece of vinyl, don't assume it's going to hold it's value. Simple. PS: It's not intentional. The labels/band/pressing companies make no money when people flip buy every color and sell them. Triple Crown gets non of the 500% profit that people selling the gold are getting...AFS won't get any either. My point: if someone is willing to buy all 8 copies...that's their choice. I don't need every color. But with 5000, they'd sell them all even if they were all plain black. when i say intentional, i don't mean to encourage flipping. i mean to con people in to buying more copies. cause like you said, people tried to snatch every copy of the first pressing, a fucking shitty pressing i might add, and now they're going to go out and buy the nicer copy. the market will be saturated with a nicer product after the shitty product is bought up. it makes perfect sense, although it's really shitty to do to your "fans"
  4. Well, everyone knew this one was coming...and going to be better. No offense, but if the quality of vinyl/sound/packaging was all that was important to Brand New fans they wouldn't spend over 200 dollars for a single 7". But this has been in the cards, so it wasn't a surprise. And the people it may surprise (BN fans that bought a cheap USB table just to listen to a single bands records) probably are more worried about getting every color than quality. Also, since you were trying to sell your gold or trade it...it would seem like you don't really have much to say here in terms of market saturation. I'm sure your gold will still be worth money because there are people out there that want it. But I don't think it's the band/labels job to make records that allow for a great (i.e. insane) resale market. i had no intention of flipping my gold copy. i was possibly going to see if i could trade it or something of the sort, but i bought it with the intention of it being somewhat of an investment. the market is going to be overly saturated and i basically lost money by buying that copy. is it anyone's fault besides my own? barely. but i'm just really pissed the way the whole thing unfolded. incredibly sloppy, with the original pre-order going up with 0 details, then saying it's the white /3000. and then just giving out all these details after....it's so stupid. and i honestly can't help but feel it's intentional.
  5. dumbest release in the history of records. serious cash grab all the way around. shitty release from the band way before a nicer version comes around to saturate the market. thanks for scamming everyone brand new. thanks.
  6. well. my gold copy is falling in value pretty damn quick. i better throw that shit up on ebay quick.
  7. not gonna lie, i'm pretty happy with the details they gave. i wanna snag the pink/green swirl. you guys think the half-pink/half-green is half and half on each record or one of each? i'd imagine half and half on each record... this album is easily the best thing any of those 3 guys have ever done
  8. my name's justin...that's all you're getting. nice to meet you...haha
  9. 1. i was going more along the price in which they are going for on ebay. and i'm pretty sure i clarified in my post that it was a long shot...didn't think it was going to be something super easy to do that people would jump on. chill out sweetheart. 2. yeah, i kinda thought that was weird too. it's not like buffalo is a small country town. it's still a semi-(declining)-large city
  10. Not gonna happen, at least, not by the band. They put the Deluxe Edition of the Red album out themselves and it was a huge money sink. Plus now they're off Geffen, and I doubt that P:DE is going to be a high priority for the label. google "pinkerton deluxe" then edit this post.
  11. maybe it's that buttknocker merch guy that everyone has been complaining about ya know, i was thinking about that. could very well be him. but he wasn't THAT big of a douche bag when i got my gold last week. i dunno, whatever
  12. know it's a long shot, but gold copies of the devil and god are already going for 150+, which is pretty ridiculous
  13. it's not out of print, you can get import copies from australia now
  14. big d and the kids table -- how it goes noah and the whale -- the first days of spring noah and the whale -- peaceful the world lays me down kevin devine and manchester orchestra's split stuff
  15. http://cgi.ebay.com/brand-new-the-devil-....i tem20b0d32cfe i wanna know who it is that's selling this that they have all those passes too. maybe jesse lacey is a little strapped for cash.
  16. is that an etching or is it a picture disc? because the greatest hits album was the black smiley with 5 arrows
  17. long time lurker of the site....just wanna say i approve of the jason tate hate in this thread.
  18. ive got both the marble and gold copies of the devil and god, and i know it's a slim chance, but anybody out there wanna swap one (or possibly both) for a copy of your favorite weapon? one record i just can't see myself ever bidding for on ebay
