  1. I was pretty indifferent to this band until I saw them live opening for the Spill Canvas like 6 or 7 years ago, and then I hated them because the singer was the most annoying performer I've ever seen.

my sister told me that it was a good thing i missed a show i was supposed to go to because although i like them, i'd probably like them less if i saw him perform

  2. If you got a coloured copy of American Slang by the Gaslight Anthem...

...and only started posting within the last few days:

FUCK YOU. With a sword. In the ass.

    No, this isn't a joke.

(I haven't bought any of them yet, I'll probably just pick up a 180g when I get some more monies)

um... no one's really freaking out over new people buying records

  3. A thought that entered my head as I saw 80 people that I am pretty sure never ordered from Vinyl Collective, I think it would be amazing to put together night at a local bar where we played new records, discussed vinyl, and drank some beer. I am thinking about setting up one in Denver, each of you should put something together in each of your towns. Maybe a local record store in each town could help sponsor the event by giving free records to listen to and giveaways. Maybe the bar or tasting room could offer a happy hour drink special. Would you attend something like this in your town?

Every Tuesday Origami Vinyl has "Record Night" at The El Prado Bar across the street.

After starting late last summer, it has quickly grown from a handful of people chatting and playing records to what is now a week wait list! The first 8 people to bring in records receive a drink voucher at any value. The bar has a wide assortment of unique beer (had allagash curieux once, soooo good) and wine but it's a little pricey (cheapest brew is $5).

Also, the first Tuesday of each month is "7inch night" ;D

    Stop on by sometime... :)

i've been meaning to go to this but never really got around to it.. one of these days i'll check it out

oh, and they also post what records people play on their twitter, which is cool

  4. i bought a surfboard for $300ish and met at the dude's house. i figured if i got robbed, i had his address and stuff like that. thinking back, i should've left the money in my car and then went back to get it in case anything fishy happened, but it all turned out okay.

as for the iPad, I would probably wait on it until it becomes available simply because there could either be things wrong with it or it could be stolen.

  5. this actually happened a couple weeks ago, but i think the intent of this thread was to share drinking stories rather than what happened last night..

i was meeting up with my friends from out of town at a club and because i was running late, i ended up pre-drinking a lot of rum. i didn't have much to eat that day, so while my initial drinking would have been fine, i downed a couple of shots i had in a water bottle right before going into the club. I remember maybe 25 - 30 minutes of dancing and the next thing i know, i wake up in my car at 10am.

i had parked at my friends' hotel and this was probably a 10 minute walk away from the club. i checked my phone, and the battery was dead, but i had a spare in my trunk, so i got out of my car. a couple of people outside saw me get out and yell "good job!" across the parking lot. i had no clue what they were talking about so i told them i didn't remember anything. they said that i was drunk and they were saying good job for not driving, as i was drunk and they told me to just sleep in my car.

when i replaced the battery, i had a bunch of missed calls and texts asking me where i was. apparently i got kicked out of the club, but i just told my friends to have fun and that i'd be fine. i have absolutely no recollection of being kicked out and no idea how i got back to my car by myself safely, but i'm glad that my drunken self had enough sense to sleep in my car rather than try to drive.
