  1. this seems cool.. curious to see the limited edition t-shirt

    http://gr2.net/2010/04/jawbreaker-weekend-at-giant-robot.html

Jawbreaker was not only one of the best indie punk bands to ever get in a van, but they were also friends of Giant Robot magazine. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the much-loved trio's debut album, Unfun, and its re-release on Blackball Records, the Giant Robot stores are holding their inaugural Jawbreaker Weekend, which will entail a ton of great music blasting on the stereos (Jawbreaker and related groups such as forgetters, Horace Pinker, J Church, Jets to Brazil, The Moons, Mutoid Men, Shore Birds, Thorns of Life, and Whysall Lane) both days and special "merch" including free buttons and a limited-edition T-shirt for sale.

In addition, copies of the newly remastered Unfun CD will be given to the first die-hard fans who go to the stores and do one the following:

    * Bring a Jawbreaker mix CD. These will be added to the store's musical rotations over the weekend and beyond. (2 at GR/Sawtelle, 2 at GRSF, 1 at GRNY)

    * Show a Jawbreaker tattoo. (2 at GR/Sawtelle, 2 at GRSF, 1 at GRNY)

One more CD will be given to the Jawbreaker/GR fan who uploads the best Jawbreaker karaoke video to YouTube. The winner will be selected by Blake, Chris, and Adam themselves, and the latter promises to send bonus goodies. To enter, please tag the video with "Giant Robot Store/Jawbreaker Contest" and send a link to [email protected].

  2. it has to do with wearing them in, its a process. i offered here because were all nerds, and nerd out about different things, and while im not the biggest denim head, i figured id offer them up incase anyones intrerested.

Since I now know you're serious, why wouldn't you wash a pair of jeans for 5 months? Wouldn't that help break them in?

the dye gets washed out. the longer you wear them without washing them, the more the fade lines become apparent and there's a greater contrast when you finally do wash them.

  3. i once creamed a rabbit going 110 mph driving through utah. i was staring at it the whole time, and it was just sitting there. it jumped under my tire at the last possible second where i couldn't avoid it.

i almost hit a deer in my city (suburb of LA) and i was more confused than anything. i didn't even think that there would be places for deer to live around where i live.

  4. linedeman's makes lambic beers and they're pretty fruity. the most popular one is framboise (raspberry) and it's really sweet.. it almost tastes like a wine. it goes really well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a beer float. people that don't like beer that i've had taste it say "this is a beer? really?" it's pretty good.

i've had the sea dog bluepaw wheat, which is a blueberry flavored hef, i think.

north coast pranqster is a pretty good belgian style golden ale, worth trying

paulaner, i like their dunkel better than their weise, but it's pretty solid

  5. that slidebar show is on the 2nd. go to the broadway calls / cobra skulls show at the roxy on the 1st.

i'm thinking of going to both

oh yea, cool. how was that Dead to Me show? I saw Rocky Votolato last weekend in Upland and it was kinda of a let down.

it was pretty good. devin seemed to mess up (a couple times on lyrics) more times than the new drummer for cobra skulls

dead to me was great, seemed to be half cuban ballerina, half african elephants and what seemed to be all of little brother except for little brother

    got a print for $7
