  1. Hello! My girlfriend and I have amassed a large amount of debt (a substantial amount of which we built up buying all these records, haha) and we've recently found ourselves unable to keep up with the bills. I've been trying to avoid doing this, but at this point we are going to have to sell off the majority of our record collection to help stay afloat. I've started listing some on eBay (we actually have some auctions closing within the next couple hours for a few great records), here is the link for those: http://stores.ebay.com/crushedflowers I've started posting some things on Discogs also (not very much yet, but will be adding more this weekend): http://www.discogs.com/seller/chrisjamieson Because even listing on Discogs is kind of tedious, I also set up a simple Wordpress site that I've been able to keep a running list of what we have for sale. Not even this is fully complete (we have a LOT of stuff) but it's much more substantial than the Discogs or eBay store: http://www.crushedflowers.net We also set up an Instagram account for posting about our listings - follow @crushedxflowers We have a ton more - check back with me or feel free to leave a comment here if you're looking for something specific/like the type of stuff that's already listed. I'm asking high (we really need to raise as much money as possible before the end of the month) but I'm willing to consider offers - it will all depend on how much we paid/how much eBay and market value are/how much I don't want to part with it thanks for looking! -Chris
  2. i've been following the thread since you originally posted it, and i don't know if you literally can't accept paypal donations towards it or won't, but i personally would definitely contribute what i can to offset what you have to pay. i can't imagine having to pay that much money just to have records imported. i don't post here a lot, but i would be more than willing to help you out. i can't imagine the stress involved in this. good luck to you, and i really hope this doesn't discourage your collecting. i think a lot of us in the forum have had to cut back if there's something we really wanted, but we always knew ahead of time - this has obviously struck you without warning, which is a frightening thought. cheers.
  3. whatever mine was, i'm sure it was a mountain goats record. i'm fairly certain that i paid $75+ for my copy of Devil In The Shortwave EP, and i definitely paid $60+ for the Satanic Messiah 2x7". it'll be topped eventually when i finally get high bidder on Come, Come To The Sunset Tree.
  4. i don't really own anything that stands out color-wise, but i fucking love that this thread has gone on for seven pages without anything that's been implicitly 'haw-haw, look at this variant that i've got, so rare, bite it you'll never own this', and everyone's been pretty legit on just appreciating awesome colored vinyl. there are some beautiful records here.
  5. fixed truth, i hope those 'deluxe' formats aren't quite as 'deluxe' as the ten reissue, where they had extra records that weren't available unless you sprung for the ultra-super-mega deluxe version that i definitely wanted, but never wanted to drum the $$$ up for. i ended up getting the simple reissue LP on the cheap on ebay, but i really would have liked getting the bonus vinyl they were offering in that set. i never bought vs on vinyl, so i'm kind of psyched about that.
  6. yeah, i mean, this, but part of what i don't like about it is if it's something i was already going to buy, it definitely takes away from the ability to buy other new records. again, i like JV - not LOVE, but the fact that the EP is available just in this bundle or on tour kinda makes it a deal breaker for me. and if i just bought the regular LP, i might end up throwing that extra $15 at another record instead. double-edged sword, but i guess and buy it or don't.
  7. i'm in for the 'platinum' in a couple days too, got into JV on the 'gone primitive' tour with the mountain goats, i thought the EP was okay and probably would have let it go if it was sold individually, but that + the record + the two 7"s make it a decent deal in my eyes, i woulda grabbed those 7"s individually anyway. i have mixed feelings on all these bundle packages; a lot of them have some junk that i don't need/want, but as long as they're decently priced, it definitely prompts me to buy the new LP quicker than i would if artists just released them alone. maybe i'm a sucker, but at least it gets the new albums sold faster and more reliably for the artists..
  8. arghh. i want coroner's gambit, bad. $30 is a great price, congrats! how's the condition?
  9. yeah, weird: "Media Mail® service is a cost efficient way to mail books, sound recordings, recorded video tapes, printed music, and recorded computer-readable media (such as CDs, DVDs, and diskettes). Media Mail can not contain advertising except for incidental announcements of books. The maximum weight for Media Mail is 70 lbs." i never knew about that stipulation and have definitely used media mail in the past for magazines. i know this is totally hypothetical because i don't THINK the USPS would nitpick to this degree, but could they potentially give grief if you stuck in fliers, business cards, or even the inserts that come with records outlining the rest of a label's catalog in with a CD or LP?
  10. media is the way to go, i dont believe there's any dimension limits and records get shipped via media all the time, that's the only cost-effective way to do it without resorting to priority which can be pricey depending on weight
  11. only jersey store i noticed was PREX and holdfast (unless i missed some in the thread) - princeton is really great; i haven't been to holdfast yet though it's only a matter of time since it's in asbury park.. but the other prominent stores are: Vintage Vinyl www.vvinyl.com 51 Lafayette Rd. Fords, NJ 08863 Phone: 732-225-7717 basically neck and neck with Princeton Record Exchange in my opinion, Vintage Vinyl is more widely frequented and was SWAMPED on Record Store Day 2010, while I ended up at Princeton later in the day and PREX had a LOT more of the exclusives still left. i have picked up some great stuff at Vintage Vinyl though, including (randomly and almost accidentally) a copy of AC - Picnic of Love on vinyl, which made my day. also have instore performances pretty regularly. Curmudgeon Records 31 West Main Street Somerville, NJ smaller shop but i found a couple things there the one time i went. it's a hike for me so it was more or less to survey the grounds. worth checking out though, especially if local. Jack's Music Shoppe 30 Broad Street Red Bank, NJ, 07701 Phone: (732)-842-0731 i've been here a bunch of times and found it pretty ho-hum as far as vinyl goes. they've got a ton of used, seemingly flea-market/yard sale quality used vinyl that i flipped through once or twice but never found anything remotely interesting. their new vinyl section is small, but seemed like it was on the increase last time i was there - usual suspects that people might be looking for on new vinyl (decent amount of GBV/pollard, VU, pavement, etc but nothing out of the ordinary). -- off the top of my head that's about it, though i did want to mention that i'm going to TN this weekend and someone had mentioned Shangri-La previously, and that's on my list, but does anyone have any other good recommendations or reviews of places in the memphis or nashville areas? i've got a googled list, but if i could get any other ideas of where to go or maybe where to not bother going, it would save me some time.. thanks!
