  1. I'm going to try to find a store that will sell me the Hold Steady LP over the phone, but if anyone sees an extra, PLEASE pick it up for me?

Try Reckless in Chicago. Last year, I couldn't find the Breeders Fate to Fatal EP anywhere, but they had a bunch of copies and you can order online. If that doesn't work, I can keep an eye out for an extra copy of it, since I'm going to 3 stores that day.

Thanks for the tip. I ordered from Park Ave in Orlando over the phone last year, but they didn't sound thrilled to be doing so, so I don't expect they will be again. I would definitely appreciate you checking for me.

  2. Matt Pryor's never let me down, I'm not too concerned. Jim Suptic is kind of hit or miss with me, but I feel pretty confident I will enjoy these songs.

Anyone getting an extra slipmatt they would sell me? Already pre ordered and see getting a double just for the slipmatt.

Still looking for a slipmat? I haven't ordered yet, but I am planning on getting the green, and don't have too much interest in the slipmat. Let me know.

YOUNG LIVERS "Of Misery and Toil" LP/CD ($8.00 / $7.00) (No Idea #265)

It is with a collective sigh of relief and with fists held high that we announce the new YOUNG LIVERS record has been born unto the world! Rejoice!

Propulsive, relentless, dark, driving! Dueling guitar leads, monolithic howl! As much as they want me to mention the first Crue EP, I just can't do it. Thin Lizzy, I'll mention! Deep melodies, soaring despair, cryptic journeys, all wrapped in a twisted, anthemic sense of hope, buried under the weight of life and crushing riffs! Undeniable and immediate! First pressing LP on Purple vinyl!

    HOT WATER MUSIC "Redemption" LP/CD ($8.00 / $7.00)

Twelve new songs, recorded in 2010 at the new Stresstudio in Gainesville, Florida. "Redemption" shows a return to form for HWM, dual palm-muting, anthemic choruses, and the rhythm section is showboating harder than "Fuel for the Hate Game." The tempos are up, the energy is scorching, and nary a delay pedal is to be heard. 12 songs, 27 minutes. This is the record you have been waiting for! (George Rebelo plays drums on side A and Warren Oakes plays drums on side B.)

  4. And the techies are right about another thing: the iPad is not a laptop. It’s not nearly as good for creating stuff. On the other hand, it’s infinitely more convenient for consuming it — books, music, video, photos, Web, e-mail and so on. For most people, manipulating these digital materials directly by touching them is a completely new experience — and a deeply satisfying one.

That sounds like a pretty perfect summation. The problem is that with a max 64 gigs, it can hardly be the media/entertainment machine they are touting it to be.

  5. (i'm a-hole talking at the beginning of the Snake vid I posted...and the guy w/ the ponytail pulled back when the cam pans far right)

So funny story, I was watching this video in my computer lab at school a few years ago with headphones, but I couldn't hear anything. I turned it up way loud, and then realized that my headphones were plugged into the wrong spot. Point of the story, about 50 or so people in Jacksonville have heard your voice...

  6. Both great records. I'll keep my eyes open in the local record shops (seattle). I'd let mine go, but these are pretty amazing records as you are well aware of. I did get my one for the ride LP on eBay for $8 last year, so keep your eye there.

That'd be awesome. I'm sure they have a better chance of popping up in seattle than anywhere in the southeast! I check ebay periodically, just need to be more regular about it.

  7. I have it on purple, though it could probably be classified as gray marble. I'll take a picture of it sometime. It is certainly not as pretty as the one you have there.

You need to just sell it to me.

    Edit: .... cheaply.

Ha! Sorry, that's not happening. If you happen to get two of the same color, I'll happily trade you.

Hopefully seeing Chris on friday, crossing my fingers I actually make it this time!
