Good to hear.

How cool would this be? Every other one I have seen has been hugely successful. I think it could work three ways. From best to worst:
1. People on this board vote on bands they want to contribute, who would then make original records or special pressings of existing ones.
2. VC staff would choose the bands to contribute, who would then make original records or special pressings of existing ones.
3. VC staff could pick quality records from bands they like that are relatively unknown (so people aren't likely to get records they already have)
3 is probably doable. 1 and 2 are probably pipe dreams. It should happen!

DAMNIT i got back from dinner to watch me lose the holy grail of slapstick 7"s on ebay.
slapstick / tommy rot 7". that shit is so hard to find!
It was included in a large lot with:
Skankin' Pickle - Skankin' Pickle presents (green vinyl)
Slapstick (featuring members of the Alkaline Trio) - Superhero EP. (red vinyl)
Slapstick (featuring members of the Alkaline Trio) / Tommy Rot - split 7"
The Monsignors - Doin' it for the Man Upstairs (white vinyl)
Assorted Jelly Beans / the Vandals - split 7"
Less Than Jake - Pez Kings
Less Than Jake - Unglued
Less Than Jake / Against All Authority - split 7
oh well.
How much did all this go for?

I have grown to love this board so much I barely check Punknews anymore. I bet I know all the things posted in the vinyl file already. Good shit.

we're talking ballpark for ebayin' purposes here. what, 7 bucks? i don't want to overcharge, but i don't want to have to pay for the shipping out of my own pocket.
I can't speak for everyone, but when I bid, I bid based on shipping+cost. So I might bid a 7" up to $10 and $5 to ship, or $13 and $2 to ship. Thus, I never really worry about cost to ship to the dollar. It just has to be close enough so that whoever you send it to doesn't bitch about paying $10 for shipping and then waiting a week for media mail.

Very happy with this! Once I get the blue and the new EP I will finally have something worth posting in the "post a picture of your collection" thread.

It looks like Dante beat me to this, but if anyone else wants to sell I'm interested.
-
Is it bad for your records to stop them mid spin (you get that 1 second noise as the needle stops)? I try not to do it, but am wondering if I am worried about nothing.
-
I've got this and am definitely willing to sell it.
What is a fair value for this in good but not great condition? I really have no idea.
-
I've got one on turquoise with some others colors mixed in I'll sell.
-
I'd love to have this record, but I already have technically unsound and have other things to buy that I don't have in any format.

I meant to say "paint blotches".
Sure it's not one like mine...drawn by children?
It's definitely painted. I looked at it for a full minute trying to figure out what it was supposed to be, but I don't see anything. I'll try and borrow a camera and post a pic soon.

Hey buddy, I'm no dummy. I'm on my 20th release, most of them vinyl... I know the costs, problems etc. Also, my label has been self sufficient since release #4, I know how finances work. Talking about them, discussing is fine. But talking about "Investing in vinyl" and "Investing in labels" because there is money to be made. This isn't wall street! Get real. If you're in it for the music, then don't worry about where there is a buck to be made. That's my point.
Talking about finances of running a label and shit is fine, Being a greedy miser is looking for a quick buck without having to work is not
given the current state of the north american financial climate, you're a fool if you think you're going to be able to EVER retire comfortably without pursuing investment opportunities. if someone is capable of enhancing their money through the financial sector AND support something they love (ie music, a favourite label that happens to do vinyl releases) what could be MORE punk rock than that?
up tha retiring punx!
Exactly.
I'm going to invest some of my money. If it's unpunk to do that, I will never join the club. I just thought it would make me feel better to do so with a on a small vinyl producer than Fortune 500 companies.

Interesting...Maybe it made it in there by mistake? I would contact Mike Park and see if he wants it back. He'd probably send you something cool for it if it was sent by mistake.

Pretty sure that Larry Arms record sells for $100+ but I don't collect their vinyl so I don't know for sure. Hard to say about the black Sink or Swim as I don't think I've seen a copy on ebay and I'm not so sure the autographed one would fetch much at all. I don't think their fan base is large enough or the right type of people to actually care about that sorta thing. Dunno about the rest.
Thanks. The Gaslight ones are the ones I am most interested in. I absolutely love that album and anticipate it one being heavily sought after once the word gets out more. I was just wondering where it was at now.

How could a distributor return records that sell for 3 times face value on ebay? Somethings not adding up.
It doesn't necessarily work like that. The distributor is in the business of selling these things in a retail store or in an online retail store. I doubt they sit around looking up the stuff they have in their inventory to see if it will sell for more on ebay.
I don't really see how anybody can call shenanigans on this one. They found a small box of these records and put them up for sale. If they were trying to sell them at a higher price I can understand thinking they were intentionally set aside or something like that, but they're selling them at the normal price. Just take it for what it is.
I wasn't calling shenanigans, although I can see how my statement could have been taken that way. I was very please they did this.
I didn't mean that the distributor could have sold the stuff on ebay. What I meant was that clearly there was demand for the record. If not, the price wouldn't be as high as it is. It doesn't make sense that someone wouldn't be able to sell these in a store, when they sell for a premium on ebay. The demand is there, so clearly the distributor is not doing a good enough job of letting the customers know that the product is available.

I have no plans to sell, but let me know what you think each of these would fetch on ebay:
Lawrence Arms - Greatest Story (burgundy)
Gaslight Anthem - Sink or Swim (black)
Gaslight Anthem - Sink or Swim (swirl)(autographed by all band members)
Short Attention 7" on clear
The Ergs - 3 guys on black with incorrect label
Thanks.

How could a distributor return records that sell for 3 times face value on ebay? Somethings not adding up.
As for the Suburban Home part, I'm not sure how the relationship between a label and a distributor works, but there's something screwed up if that can happen. It seems like the label would keep producing, thinking things were selling. The distributor keeps taking stuff, but not selling. Then the distributor returns everything and the label takes the hit.
Am I understanding this right?

Anyone know of any vinyl companies that have publicly traded stocks? I'm not going to invest tens of thousands of dollars, but with the current vinyl market I think it would be a good way to make some money, which I could then reinvest in the company by buying more records...

I meant to say "paint blotches".

Mine is a bunch of blotches. It's really abstract-looking. I can't post a pic because I don't have a camera. Any idea what band member did this one?
