  1. Some great suggestions here. Maui was probably the best vacation I ever had. It's gorgeous and it's nice being able explore the island and feel safe doing so.

Definitely do Mt Haleakala. I'd also recommend doing it early in the vacation as your body is still adjusting to the time change - because you need to wake up reallllllllly early to get there. As others said, dress warm, and I can't emphasize that enough. My wife foolishly thought she'd be comfortable in a light sweatshirt and she was freezing. Also, another beautiful thing about that mountain is how clear the stars and sky are when you're at the top - not something I'm used to in Jersey.

The Road to Hana was also incredible. Pack food for the day and start early to avoid the traffic. I'd also recommend even bringing a change of clothes for the trip; it can get uncomfortable walking around in wet clothes the entire day.

Also, while staying in Lahaina, there's some pretty good snorkeling in front of the Sheraton hotel. That's where I stayed, and at least when I was there, I saw a sea turtle nearly every day.

    I'm so jealous...

  2. So, I just got my Merge preorder in the mail- did anyone else get the autographed 7"? I don't remember reading that- but came with a split Titus andronicus/spider bags 7" signed by all the dudes from TA (6 signatures)

I think it was actually a contest. I remember reading if you pre-order before a certain date you would be entered to win that 7". I guess you were the winner. Congrats.

  3. Damn I need to hurry up and order this. How's the packaging?

The packaging is incredible. This has to be one of the nicest records I own in terms of packaging. A really sturdy double gatefold with a ton of detail and handwritten lyrics. There's a large poster included as well as instructions on how to play the record - because it's pretty unconventional. I'm really happy the packaging is as ambitious as the music.

  4. I'm also done with having a garden. It's way too much work compared to that you can get an entire meal's worth of veggies at the store for under a dollar.

I understand some people like gardening. To me it's another chore. I have just kept it up because the house had a garden when I moved in.

I kind of agree. I put together a garden each year with mixed results. For the amount of money I spend on transplants and soil I could have probably just purchased vegetables more cheaply from a local farmers market or grocery store. However, it is rewarding when the plants yield a good amount of vegetables. I continue to do it for the personal satisfaction, because it's probably not as cost effective as I'd like it to be.

  5. Just watched Microsoft's E3 press conference and am psyched about the addition of backwards compatibility and PC mods on Fallout 4. Hopefully more games will incorporate PC mods into their games - I'd love the see GTA V mods on the Xbox One. Rare's Sea of Thieves looked pretty cool and I'm really looking forward to Cuphead. A ton of great looking exclusives on the horizon.

  6. An NES style Punch-Out for the 3DS would be my dream announcement. I'm also hoping for Dishonored 2, Mass Effect 4 and some good new IP for the Xbox One. I hope they can crank out more interesting and original stuff like Sunset Overdrive.

  7. I've kind of moved on from The Lips. It has nothing to do with his personality - I don't really follow what comments he has and hasn't made. I just can't keep up with all these random collaborations and lately I haven't enjoyed their shows like I once did. Don't get me wrong, they still put on a good show, but I miss the light hearted party atmosphere their shows used to be. I can still enjoy the music they've made, but honestly, I doubt I'd be excited if they were to release a new record.

  8. Really glad the set times worked out alright - I can see American Nightmare, Thrice, Real Friends, Nora, Poison the Well, From Autumn to Ashes, and Pianos Become the Teeth without issue.

Now the bigger decision at hand is whether or not to trek into Brooklyn on Friday night to see PTW's warm-up show...

Oh yeah, another issue that many of you can possibly relate to - I haven't seen most of these bands in years - how the hell am I going to manage to hold all the merch my drunken ass is bound to buy?

And does anyone know any good pre-grame spots in Asbury?

I'd recommend The Wonder Bar which is right next to where the festival is taking place - the drink prices are reasonable and it's a decent atmosphere. Langosta Lounge is another option. It's right on the boardwalk which is nice, but it's definitely pricier.

  9. Pretty happy with my haul.  Picked up The Front Bottoms, Polaris, The Baseball Project, Zombies, Grouplove, and the Dogfish record.  It more than I intended on buying, but figured if I'm waking up at 5:30 AM I might as well make it worth it.  The only thing I didn't get that I wanted was the Dave Hause record.  My store had two copies of Brand New and the first two people in line snagged them - I'm pretty sure the two people who bought them were going to flip them.

  10. Steven Ogg (who voiced-acted Trevor in GTA V) was in this week's episode. He was the thug with two guns in the parking garage. It took me a minute to place him, but I knew I recognized his voice and face from somewhere.

Oh man, really?  The entire time I kept thinking to myself that he reminded me of Trevor from GTA lol.
