So I finally pulled the trigger on the Dark Operative Tertia press.  Spinning it now.  To me, it is far superior in sound than any of the six Mylene Sheath variants I have listened to. If you are a fan of Caspian / Tertia, it's definitely worth purchasing to experience the sound of this new pressing.  What is unfortunate is how lackluster the record was presented with it's packaging.  Flimsy vinyl that barely feels 140gram with rough edges that weren't even cut properly at the plant, plain Jane "La Vie En Rose" vinyl color (basically just clear vinyl with a slight pink tone), cheap jacket with none of the bells and whistles of some of the earlier Mylene Sheath pressings (gold foil stamping, gatefold, etc), and misprinted labels on sides A, B, and C that say it is spun at 45rpm when it's actually 33rpm.  I wonder how many thousand copies were pressed with that misprint?  Dark Operative / Magic Bullet / Brent still sucks.

How about all the yellow vinyl pressings too?  Fire sale on yellow at the plant?  Must have been cheaper to press than the typical Dark Operative/Magic Bullet randomly mixed vinyl.  Another head scratcher.

They were supposed to be here yesterday and the test presses today, but not sure what their new arrival date is. 
 

“those models in music aren’t built to last”. Man, I’m still pissed at that comment. I can understand that if this genre attracts flippers like if he put out super limited, gimmicky, expensive releases, but it’s the 4th/5th/6th repress of albums that are still somewhat readily available and being repressed at a normal price. I don’t get it. I just knew when they announced they were having him repress the back catalog we were going to run into shit like this, and hear we are. 

Did you see all the of the shit he (Brent, from Dark Operative) was posting on Caspian's Instagram post about the represses?   Brent and some other dude were going back and forth shit slinging over him not divulging pressing info for some TWDY records and being a dick about it.  Literally embarrassing.  I felt so bad for Caspian.

Ended up dropping $200+ on their Black Friday sale.  And it already shipped.  Stoked to get my first taste of A1KA.

 

Had no idea Beware of Safety's Mabon was pressed. Man, I forgot how good they are.  Going to break out their discography this week.

I already have four of the Mylene Sheath pressings of Tertia.  As beautiful as some of them are... they all sound like shit.  Muddy, surface noise.  One of the few records in my collection that sound like garbage... Willing to try my luck on a fifth copy I suppose.  If anyone else has a Sheath pressing and this new one I would love to hear your thoughts on the sound quality in comparison.
