I ordered a record from Volar Records about 5 months ago. He keeps promising to send it and then says he sent it, that was 3 weeks ago.
UPDATE
After emailing him once again just asking for a refund, he refunded me immediately. He also sent me the record evidently free of charge. He made things right, which is a lot. I will still hesitate to order again though.

For anything I ship over $40, insurance is not an option it's part of the shipping cost. It's a simple way to cover your ass. I had one item damaged in transit and it was fairly easy to file a claim and get a refund from USPS. Just make it clear in your transactions that you charge for insurance, if they have a problem with that then you may have saved yourself future problems.

What happened to people starting record labels with a local band's 7" on black vinyl with a xeroxed cover?
Seems like today DIY = Debt Is Yours

Definitely handled in a stupid way. It sucks that the general public has had the new material for a while and all the people who kickstarted this shit are still waiting, unless they bought the CD. Download codes should have been sent out to us weeks before the official release. No one knew the new songs when I saw them in SF. Just all around badly planned. Maybe the bad taste will go away when I get all my goods.

ryanmccauley38 - never before have i seen such a steller packing job from... well... anyone. i think my record could have survived USPS's worst carrier. thanks dude!
Word for word and quickitysplit on the shipping!

I've been waiting a few weeks for jordyedge to send me something, he barely responds to anything... and his last login was July 3rd, so I can't even get a hold of em...
I bought some records from him and he kinda took a while to get them to me, but in the end I got a great deal on my records and wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. Hopefully things will work out the same for you.

I actually got a confirmation for shipping today! Let's just hope that Trever knows the correct way to ship records.
-
Really fast shipping and packaging above and beyond safe. Why can't all transactions be this cool?
-
The Fences and Mansions sites are showing different artwork. I wonder if it is just the two different sides of the cover, or if they are completely different. They should give some pressing info because I don't know why I should buy this now as a PO and not just wait until they have it in stock.

Napa. Christonacrutch those tickets were expensive! Had to give up my left nut just to see them again. At least I will get to once again jump around, sing along, though with one less nut. The price of being a debaser.

Well, collectors seem to do crazy things like buy the same material more than once to get different variations. It's pretty clear in the description that there is no new material in this release, just another way to consume it.
-
These were insanely expensive with shipping, but I had to do it. If I didn't go for it I know I would just be trying to get it on ebay later. A small pressing for a band that seems to be on its way to being pretty big.

Is it not July 4th in Canada yet? Damn, I guess I will just have to keep drinking beers and eat a bacon hot dog. I will be fucked up when I can finally buy Fucked Up.

Derek, could you tell us the guy's ebay name? His long tweaker style explanation made my head spin. His excuses may be legit, but $5 sends out your record. I just want to make sure I don't get involved with this guy. Thanks a lot!

The fact that Deathwish had the forethought to have the regular version and deluxe version ship separately (so people that wanted to listen to the album right away could get the regular and those that felt fine waiting knowing they were going to receive an amazing package at a later time could get the deluxe) shows that they are light-years beyond most labels.
they are light years beyond most labels in pretty much all aspects. they should pretty much be the basis for how all other labels run themselves (we're definitely going to follow a lot of their footsteps!). great dudes, great label, great bands. i've never had a single problem with anything i've ever ordered from them in the last 5 or 6 years
Completely agreed. Excellent communication and quick as hell shipping. I bought some t-shirts recently and they shipped it the same day I ordered. Really one of the best labels around.

I found both of these companies to be pretty quick with email responses. It took a few weeks to get my New Best Friends lp, but I got it. Two great records by Mansions.

As far as I know the limited editions and test presses will be available sometime tomorrow(Sunday). The tests will probably go fast for that price.

deafmx and irule- Thanks, yeah if he told me "I won't be able to ship for a few weeks," I would have said okay cool, let me know when you are ready and I will pay you then. Gifting a stranger that amount of money, I mean it was $86 not $20, made me just feel like he could have made a little effort for that amount.
controlthebleeding- No worries, man. I enjoy a good jest as well. Now that we "know" each other we can say all sorts of shit without bummers! Just for the record, I AM old. The internet, cells, and mp3 players weren't around when I was a youngster. Hell, I remember when we first got this new fangled cooking device called a "microwave oven". I just wish I had the money back then to buy all those Dangerhouse and Misfits releases when I used to see them in record stores! Time machine!

I got my copy of clear splatter yesterday, so definitely sent out within a reasonable amount of time. The record was fine except for the almost inevitable slight splitting at the bottom of the sleeve that seems to be common with this release.

obviously my facetious head be more apt to use quick brevity and less verbiage.
i should probably not even bother more times than not to succumb to a brain aneurysm from this long, perpetually verbose, diatribe.
well so much for less verbiage
Fixed.
I've had some great transactions with others on the board. I did state I got the record. This person was not terrible. Just a heads up for folks. I'm also not the only one who has experienced this with this person. Anyway, back to record collecting.
-
I don't know if you are looking for original pressings, but that is some expensive shit. Have you looked into those box sets? Those things are sweet. That is how I got a lot of my Fela stuff.
-
Yeah DUDE, a month is a long time to wonder if you're going to get your record dude. It's not like he's a distro with many orders to deal with dude. He asked to be gifted the money dude and then straight up told me that it wasn't worth his time to go to the post office, took a month to get it. If you're okay with that then good for you dude.
-
Whenever I ship anything and generate the postage online there is always the option for "hold at post office for pick up". I think that would be the best option if they are using USPS. It shouldn't cost more to do that either. At least you know the records are "safe" and out of the sun.

I ordered the creamsicle and got it yesterday bent in half from damage. totaly unplayable. Anyone ever sent them a damaged record back and succesfully get a replacement or is that wishful thinking?
Wow, that is messed up. I am not looking forward to seeing what I get. I ordered a clear splatter before they put up the newly found batch of creamsicle and still haven't got it. Hopefully MDAM will choose another company next time they put out a record.
AMPERE update from NO IDEA!
