  1. Dude so jealy you have that 7"! AWV are my favorite band of all time, really genuine dudes and not a bad song in their catalogue. Recovery would be an absolute dream to own on vinyl!

Oh yeah, if youd like their discography, shoot me a PM!

Followed AWV since I was in high school (which feels like a lifetime ago). I think I have everything from "A Baby Boy Sleeps" forward. If you know of anything prior, I would love to have it.

They ended with some of their best stuff on "A Year At Home". Really would have liked to see them kept going...but don't we all wish our favorite bands played forever?

  2. Help me get a copy of that Away with Vega split? Haha!

Haha, no can do.  That's one of my few prized possessions (in general, not specifically vinyl related).

My emotional connection to this label and this band is huge.  They were both a massive part of my youth.  And even though i saw the end of XRA coming, it's definitely tough to see it end.  That being said, I'm extremely grateful that this is the last release.  Came in the mail yesterday, so I'll be hanging out with it all week.

  3. And back when they did a kickstarter, I have two songs that they did acoustic for me, battlecab dramatica and the direction we never went. If anyone wants them send me a pm. I know some other members on here got some songs as well but I lost them in a hard drive crash.

Got one of my biggest white whales from this kickstarter, the H&W/Away With Vega split 7". Actually listened to it a few days ago. That version of Battlecab Dramatica is so perfect.

  4. I wish they would press the old H&W stuff. I can't remember the album title because I lost the CD years ago, but the first couple albums they did after the switch from Handbook For William are fucking amazing.

"Operation; Surgery" is one of my all time faves.

Most of the XRA releases were solid. I grew up with/listening to this record label, and this is such a fitting final release.

  5. This band fucking rules.  DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TAKE A LISTEN.

Highly recommend starting with "County Line" or "Black River Gospel"

Not a huge fan of picture discs, but this record is way too good to pass up.  It actually came out over a year ago.  Glad that it finally got pressed in some fashion.

  6. Bands like Husband and Wife make me proud to be from Indiana. I don't think Mike Adams has done anything that I don't like. For those of you that are fans of Mike Adams, check out Prayer Breakfast. They're fantastic as well.

Prayer Breakfast is so rad.  Only ever found the tape they put out; would love to have one of the few copies of the ep they pressed on vinyl.

I was at the last H&W show.  For those that followed this band, that show was such a celebration of everything they'd done and everything they'd meant to us.

Such a fitting last release from XRA.

  7. Man! I would give anything to do this! I have wanted to go every year. Wish I had the funds for the flight from TX, tickets and hotel room. My wife would go nuts :D Sorry you can't make it!

I know dude! By the time you factor everything in (flights, hotel room that isn't already paid for, and car rental) it just gets to be way too much. I'm super bummed.

That being said I'm real surprised no VC members within driving distance are into this.

    Anyone? Bueller?

  8. For the last few winters Murder By Death has played a few shows in Estes Park, CO at the infamous Stanley Hotel.  For those that don’t know this hotel was the inspiration for Steven King’s, “The Shining”, and much of the movie was filmed here.

ALL THREE SHOWS ARE SOLD OUT.  I have two tickets to the show on Friday, January 15th, as well as a hotel room reserved for the same night.

I’m no longer able to go as I recently moved to South Carolina, and cannot justify the expense of getting out to Colorado for a 3-day soiree.

I have checked with the hotel and the reservation is transferable, as so are the tickets.  I have just under $400 invested in this event as of now, and would simply like to somewhat mitigate my loss.

If you’re interested just shoot me a message and we can work something out.  I would really like someone who’s into MBD to get the chance to enjoy this experience.

  9. I saw her at lana and loved it. Love both of them but i thought she was better than lana. Everyone's got different taste though.

For sure, I think Lana put on a pretty good show, but I'm biased in this comparison b/c I'd actually heard and liked her music prior.

Felt the need to comment simply b/c I have seen this artist's name several times in different places in the last two weeks alone.

  10. I keep seeing this chick's name everywhere.  I saw her open for Lana Del Rey this summer, and had never heard of her.  She was flat out terrible...like...real bad.  She would literally just start screaming into the mic at random points in several of her songs, and people would go ape shit.  I think I'm just old, and don't get it, b/c a large part of the crowd seemed to really dig her set.
