  1. I think the fact that they are releasing one song a month is such a great idea. Now instead of rushing to make an album in that time frame they only have to focus on getting one song recorded which greatly increases the chances that this entire series will be good. At least that's my hope.

Hopefully this doesn't destroy your hope but all the songs are recorded already. They are still great songs though so it's alright.

  2. Started January 1st and the subscription is only available until the 31st. Every three months a 7" will come out with the previous months songs and a bonus song, which will only be available digitally through the subscription.

The new song is a classic Souls sing along kinda song, incase the title didn't give that away already.

  3. pikemess, thought you might enjoy these pictures. Tarantulas Records used to send records out in these custom mailers. I don't remember what the 'contest' was but I received these posters and button/sticker pack because I won it along with a written note saying they included a Tarantulas stencil for me. It's signed Tarantulas and the Explosion. I just planned on taking a pic of the mailer and found all that stuff inside. I'd totally forgotten about it. Oh, and there's also a huge red tarantula stenciled on the inside of the mailer.

Thanks for posting that; it's fucking awesome! I would love to check my mail one day and discover that. After seeing this maybe I'll make my own stencil.

note: I couldn't find my This Time Next Year cd for the picture, but it's around somewhere

The Movielife - Forty Hour Train Back To Penn ltd digipak (this version's cover artwork was considered too graphic to be sold in stores at walmart/target and was only available from TML on tour (Finch/TML/A Static Lullaby tour Feb '03) or via the Drive Thru webstore at that time if I remember correctly.

from Dubin who ran Fadeway Records:

    Hey Steve

that is me.. basically the cd with the picture of vinny jumping off the bridge (the copy you bought) was the first pressing, and the one that more closely matches the art was the 2nd and 3rd pressings... Its a bit cloudy but I believe there are 1000 of the first and probably like 2000 of the second pressing.

I think that the second pressing also has a hidden picture under the tray as well...

I hope that helps, please feel free to hit me up with anyother questions.

    thanks

    dubin.

The Movielife - white demo tape

The Movielife - Jamestown 7" (in the mail)

The Movielife - Forty Hour Train Back To Penn 2x cd w/2nd cd having Sailor Tattoos re-recorded acoustic

The Movielife / Ex Number Five split cd on One Day Saviour

I can't think of anything else I need, if you know something let me know.

i have a buddy whose 1st cousin is vinnie, i'll see if there is anything else next time i talk to him

That collection is great even with missing pieces.

You talking about Tony? He is one of my closest/oldest friends. He most likely knows nothing about their vinyl shit, not into records, but he could of course go straight to the source.

  5. If they were duplicates I'd sell you one. The one on the left is the original cover/back cover/insert and the right one is the corrected version that fixed some details. Most of the original copies also have hand written notes on the paper sleeve from Pete V.

is their song on the "can you break through comp" an exclusive song cause i have that.

It was exclusive up until Chunksaah put out their anathology in '03 which includes it. I actually have the test for that comp.

  6. Their last record, Addicted to Bad Ideas, is a "concept" album/song cycle that goes throughout the life and times of actor Peter Lorre. Lorre was famous for his work in M, Casablanca, Mr. Moto, and countless other movies. This show runs through the cycle and also includes aspects of a stage show inbetween songs in which band members take roles of the characters in Lorre's life. The show also involving some mult-media to round it off.

The band has put a ton of hard work into the show over the past year and it's not something to miss. Besides that they are playing a full set after the Lorre Story, so even if the story isn't your thing, you can still get a regular set. It's almost sold out so if you wanna go, get 'em while you can!
