i'm gonna say bootleg based on the fact that it looks just like mine did when sealed and that it has no stickers on the front like this:
-
got in on the STP - Core at bullmoose for $20.97 shipped. i'd say that's more than fair and i didn't even have to fight the crowds!
-
They all are until 12/2. I was saying that they have lots of stock still so when they DO go on sale later, there should be good pickins.
ah, gotcha. thanks for the heads up!
-
Went to Bull Moose again today. At least 10 - 15 copies of Core, QOTSA, Nirvana, overall a lot of stuff left.
Encourage you guys (again) to check their online leftover sale, should be decent quantities if you act fast.
on the website, Core is listed as "In Store Only"
-
the one morfiend has/will have isn't the RSD
-
anyone pick up a copy of STP - Core or know of any place that has leftovers for sale?
-
If by "close" you mean having a CD ripped onto vinyl. Which is, to my best assessment, pointless. I mean no disrespect, but I hope you all are aware that is how these are being produced. And who knows what production methods are being employed at the pressing plant.
You know, I've been following this thread for awhile and I am astonished anyone is willing to pay more than $5 for these "bootleg" copies. These are, at best, novelty items.
wait, you mean these things are bootlegs!?!?!
-
would love to see some pics of the Aenima repress regards the art.
i'll post up some pics for you when it arrives
-
There is a show in Des Moines, IA next month. Its 2 hrs away so I'm torn on whether or not I'll go.
make the trip. it's a 2-1/2 hour drive for me to get to the nearest record store. 2 hours for a record show would be a dream come true.
-
The one with the printed versions of the liners is nice but don't pay anything over retail. The og press is a different master and has a locked groove on side A.
it was $39 shipped. i haven't been able to find it that cheap anywhere else (heck, this is the first time i've ever seen a copy in person - bootleg or otherwise). it's also sealed, so i'm not sure what color the vinyl is or what kind of liner notes it has. the only thing i know for certain is that it's NOT an OG press
-
Decent sound quality and worth $35 IMO.
Agreed. That's about what I paid, and I don't regret it. Sound quality isn't too bad, plus it has all the artwork that OG copies have.
Thanks guys. I was out of town when I saw it, so I emailed the shop yesterday and he's gonna let me do a mailorder on it, so i went ahead and pulled the trigger. Who knows if we'll ever see a legit repress.

Got mine today, looks and sounds great. My only complaint is that its not a gatefold. Love how the return address is Mark Arm.
My thoughts 100% on this. I think I was just as excited to get a record with Mark Arm as the return address as I was to get the record itself hah
-
can anyone comment on the sound quality of the Aenema boots? i found one of these sealed for $35 this weekend and i don't know if i want to pull the trigger on it if has really crappy sound quality.

I have two copies, one that skips and one that doesn't. It doesn't have anything to do with turntable settings. There are bad copies out there and it sucks that people have to eat it or try to get another copy. I doubt adjusting their anti-skate it going to remedy it.
i also have two copies, one that skips and one that doesn't. there's no doubt there were SERIOUS quality control issues on this release.
that said, the guy may have a point to some extent. i'm always kinda shocked when i see some people complain about certain pressings of records skipping like hell and then you dig through post history or they post a picture and they have crappy tables. i guess after all this time reading posts on various forums something like that shouldn't surprise me anymore, but it does

pearl jam has been my favorite band since the moment i was the airing of MTV unplugged in 1992. they are the reason that i am a music fan. i've been a 10c member for about 13 years now. out of those 13 years i've gotten tickets to see them twice. not because they weren't available, but because they haven't come anywhere near me in 10 years. i really enjoy the holiday singles we get each year and the opportunity to purchase limited 10c merch/vinyl. i don't ever remember a 10c black friday sale, but that's not to say they haven't had them and i may have forgotten.
i don't mind paying $40/year to be a member just because you never really know when you'll get that opportunity to get something really cool that's limited to 10c, you always get the holiday single, and 10c members always get first crack at tickets when they tour (if they come to your region). i'll also agree that the lottery system for this current tour sucked, but at least i managed to get 10c tix for the dallas show. i just hope i'm not on the floor!

fuckin' ordered! SUCH a great record!

Thanks for bringing this up, I don't think I would have discovered it on my own!
I'm making the 8 hour trip from Arkansas just to attend this show. It'll be well worth your time to pop in on Saturday or Sunday.
Also that weekend, Phil Anselmo is hosting his Housecore Horror Film and Music festival in Austin. I don't know if you can get tickets to shows individually or not, but there will be TONS of metal in town that weekend. Wouldn't really surprise me if you caught some of those folks at Encore or the record show.
-
had the /100 in my cart and when i went to update it told me they were already sold out. bastards!
-
end of an ear is the best store in austin by far.
yep. this. You may also want to try Encore records. They've recently reopened on red river street (i believe). Encore and End of an Ear have, by FAR, the best metal selection in Austin. Waterloo is probably 3rd.
depending on when you're going, the Austin Record Convention may be in town. it's October 25-27th admission is $25 on Friday (covers all 3 days) or $5 for Saturday and Sunday. over 1 million LPs, 45s, cds, and cassettes. it's a GREAT show and there are a couple of vendors there that specialize in metal.
-
Unless it is otherwise noted, record shows are mostly old mainstream released records. If you are looking for punk you have to find the "new wave" or "alternative" section. Like I said above it's all about the digging.
That was my experience at the show I recently attended
this was my experience in Austin as well. out of roughly 100 vendors, there were 3 vendors who specialized in metal, 1 who specialized in punk, and 1 guy who had a pretty good mixture of modern (mid-90's to current) rock. everyone else was typically 60's-80's mainstream rock with a seemingly big focus on pushing relatively expensive copies of Beatles, Floyd, and Zappa.
since last year i've totally retooled my record show wantlist to hopefully be able to walk out with more records to fill the holes in some of my discographies that i'm trying to complete. i've also learned that you NEED to haggle. you can definitely get things for a FAR cheaper price at record shows if you haggle. i saw one guy come off of a record almost $80 last year because the dude who was haggling just put it down in the middle of the conversation and walked away. he didn't say a word, he just laid the record down and walked the hell off. the vendor chased him down the aisle and said "ok ok ok, i'll let you have it". i'm taking that dude's approach this year if i find something that is a MUST HAVE that's way overpriced.
-
^^ It's in a couple weeks, huh? I'd love to go but I'm selling at a record show here, which will all but guarantee me $500.
yep, Oct 25-27. last year we aid the $25 to get early access on Friday, i will not be doing that this year. the vast majority of stuff that i found was still there on saturday (except my sealed OG pressing of Mechanical Animals for $25). this year, we'll just be paying the $5 to get in on Saturday and spend Thursday and Friday bombing around Austin and visiting all of the other great record stores there.
-
my first record show was the Austin Record Convention last year and it was completely overwhelming, but fucking AWESOME. there were sellers and buyers from all over the world with over one million LPs, 45s. cds, and cassettes. i really had no clue what to expect and took a want list. i picked up very few items from my wantlist, but it was geared toward hard to find metal. i'll be going back this year and now that i know what to expect, i can fine-tune my list and hopefully have much more success (and an empty wallet).

Awesome. I need to pick these up!

there are several photos of this very pressing in this thread. it sounds really good for what it is. i was not disappointed with my copy of it.
