i'm gonna say bootleg based on the fact that it looks just like mine did when sealed and that it has no stickers on the front like this: -

i'll post up some pics for you when it arrives -
make the trip. it's a 2-1/2 hour drive for me to get to the nearest record store. 2 hours for a record show would be a dream come true.

Tool Vinyl BUYING GUIDE (Original/Boots, etc.)

it was $39 shipped. i haven't been able to find it that cheap anywhere else (heck, this is the first time i've ever seen a copy in person - bootleg or otherwise). it's also sealed, so i'm not sure what color the vinyl is or what kind of liner notes it has. the only thing i know for certain is that it's NOT an OG press -

Thanks guys. I was out of town when I saw it, so I emailed the shop yesterday and he's gonna let me do a mailorder on it, so i went ahead and pulled the trigger. Who knows if we'll ever see a legit repress. -
PO: Soundgarden Screaming Life/Fopp reissue at Sub pop

My thoughts 100% on this. I think I was just as excited to get a record with Mark Arm as the return address as I was to get the record itself hah -

can anyone comment on the sound quality of the Aenema boots? i found one of these sealed for $35 this weekend and i don't know if i want to pull the trigger on it if has really crappy sound quality. -
PO: Pearl Jam - Lightning Bolt (Oct 15)
wizzi replied to timsimmons's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
i also have two copies, one that skips and one that doesn't. there's no doubt there were SERIOUS quality control issues on this release. that said, the guy may have a point to some extent. i'm always kinda shocked when i see some people complain about certain pressings of records skipping like hell and then you dig through post history or they post a picture and they have crappy tables. i guess after all this time reading posts on various forums something like that shouldn't surprise me anymore, but it does -
PO: Pearl Jam - Lightning Bolt (Oct 15)

pearl jam has been my favorite band since the moment i was the airing of MTV unplugged in 1992. they are the reason that i am a music fan. i've been a 10c member for about 13 years now. out of those 13 years i've gotten tickets to see them twice. not because they weren't available, but because they haven't come anywhere near me in 10 years. i really enjoy the holiday singles we get each year and the opportunity to purchase limited 10c merch/vinyl. i don't ever remember a 10c black friday sale, but that's not to say they haven't had them and i may have forgotten. i don't mind paying $40/year to be a member just because you never really know when you'll get that opportunity to get something really cool that's limited to 10c, you always get the holiday single, and 10c members always get first crack at tickets when they tour (if they come to your region). i'll also agree that the lottery system for this current tour sucked, but at least i managed to get 10c tix for the dallas show. i just hope i'm not on the floor! -

Austin record store recommendations?
wizzi replied to radiatorhums's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I'm making the 8 hour trip from Arkansas just to attend this show. It'll be well worth your time to pop in on Saturday or Sunday. Also that weekend, Phil Anselmo is hosting his Housecore Horror Film and Music festival in Austin. I don't know if you can get tickets to shows individually or not, but there will be TONS of metal in town that weekend. Wouldn't really surprise me if you caught some of those folks at Encore or the record show. -
had the /100 in my cart and when i went to update it told me they were already sold out. bastards!

Austin record store recommendations?
wizzi replied to radiatorhums's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
yep. this. You may also want to try Encore records. They've recently reopened on red river street (i believe). Encore and End of an Ear have, by FAR, the best metal selection in Austin. Waterloo is probably 3rd. depending on when you're going, the Austin Record Convention may be in town. it's October 25-27th admission is $25 on Friday (covers all 3 days) or $5 for Saturday and Sunday. over 1 million LPs, 45s, cds, and cassettes. it's a GREAT show and there are a couple of vendors there that specialize in metal. -
this was my experience in Austin as well. out of roughly 100 vendors, there were 3 vendors who specialized in metal, 1 who specialized in punk, and 1 guy who had a pretty good mixture of modern (mid-90's to current) rock. everyone else was typically 60's-80's mainstream rock with a seemingly big focus on pushing relatively expensive copies of Beatles, Floyd, and Zappa. since last year i've totally retooled my record show wantlist to hopefully be able to walk out with more records to fill the holes in some of my discographies that i'm trying to complete. i've also learned that you NEED to haggle. you can definitely get things for a FAR cheaper price at record shows if you haggle. i saw one guy come off of a record almost $80 last year because the dude who was haggling just put it down in the middle of the conversation and walked away. he didn't say a word, he just laid the record down and walked the hell off. the vendor chased him down the aisle and said "ok ok ok, i'll let you have it". i'm taking that dude's approach this year if i find something that is a MUST HAVE that's way overpriced.
-
yep, Oct 25-27. last year we aid the $25 to get early access on Friday, i will not be doing that this year. the vast majority of stuff that i found was still there on saturday (except my sealed OG pressing of Mechanical Animals for $25). this year, we'll just be paying the $5 to get in on Saturday and spend Thursday and Friday bombing around Austin and visiting all of the other great record stores there.

my first record show was the Austin Record Convention last year and it was completely overwhelming, but fucking AWESOME. there were sellers and buyers from all over the world with over one million LPs, 45s. cds, and cassettes. i really had no clue what to expect and took a want list. i picked up very few items from my wantlist, but it was geared toward hard to find metal. i'll be going back this year and now that i know what to expect, i can fine-tune my list and hopefully have much more success (and an empty wallet).
