  1. Thing is gourgeous. Excelent presentation, weights a ton. deVine's utterly care is all around it.

My only restriction is the option for those nests which hold the CDs/DVD, they're annoying to take the CDs from.

Although filled with interesting rehearsals and demos, a live recording of a Spiderland era gig would nail it down, but perhaps there wasn't any recording available?

Anyways, an expensive pleasure but worth every penny IMO, being a comprehensive and very well put together homage to this essential album.

  2. Yeah, I've had trouble trying to get response from them via e-mail. It was about shipping costs and they never answered my question (or never got my original message?), then missed an opportunity.

Preordered this one, black wax 'cause black is the ultimate color.

BTW, the recent link between Flenser and Enemies List is pretty exciting. Hopefully they'll get enough support and keep reissuing previous EL's titles. Giles Corey and that HaNL tape comes to my mind.

  3. Yeah, I'm still struggling to dwelve into Terrestrials and go along with the multiple praises it got. Not sure if I'll be able to, though, And that comes from a Sunn O))) fanboy.

Still think it's much more an Ulver release with minor, pretty bureaucratic Sunn's input. At least that's how it sounds to me. It's not bad but it lacks a bit of menace, not sounding much different than most of the (ugh) drone albums you've heard.

  4. In my humble opinion, it's been beat to death and should be put to rest. It puts attention over the moniker and makes new music somehow into "competition" with the Pumpkins legacy, at least when it comes to the way the media and casual fans take it. Since Zeitgeist, the music reflects Corgan's approach much more than anything else, even with his efforts to make everything sound as a natural SP move. But I guess Billy Corgan solo (or whatever other name he would create) would reflect it fairly.

But let's not start a flame war, please. Like I said, it's almost meaningless at this point. Just thought this could be one announcement possibility.

  5. I take In Utero as a whole different project, the label brought Albini back to the board, gave him control along with Krist & Grohl and you know you'd be getting something special and genuine from that. It was actually used as a sale argument by the label. If they charged whatever more (and they did), at least there was a reason behind, although one can argue if the final price was fair even though.

But all those recent MOV reissues (FNM, STP, Temple Of The Dog), on the other hand, were pushed out of reasonability pricewise... They are clearly profiting on recordings from an era when vinyl wasn't priority and became rarities during today's renaissance. Consider buyers in their 30~40 y.o. with regular income and aware that original pressings are rare to come across and usually object of eBay pricing, a reissue sounds interesting. But MOV and major labels don't mention what kind of remastering work was put onto those reissues, neither the bands seem active during the process, which totally put those releases into question.

  6. There are several labels releasing great stuff under top notch packaging and reasonable prices (Southern Lord, f.i.) or strugglng to keep prices affordable (Temporary Residence).

This RSD / expensive reissues approach is mainly major label driven and, unfortunately, it's moving the whole vinyl market towards there. They still bet on the same old ethics of remastering and repackaging something that was already good and trying to make ends meet with the new era of free downloads and piracy,

On the other hand, no one's obliged to buy anything, so... I try to support those who keep things straight.

  7. Good to know that some of you haven't heard anything from them either.  I was mainly concerned because a fair amount of people got theirs a few weeks ago (...)

Have you heard of someone who got black copies from SL? I'm not sure I have but I've definitely read about people getting coloured copies from them.

SL has improved their mailorder in the last couple of years and while they're not only packing very well, they are providing good communication with shipping notices and so.

  8. My black variant ordered from the Sunn store still hasn't arrived.  Guess I should shoot them an email at this point.

Yeah, I got shipping notification for the coloured wax but none for the black wax (a second order) yet. I was wondering if it had to do with the availability of a shirt that was ordered along with this black vinyl but perhaps SL didn't start ship the black wax at this point?

  9. It's weird cause unlike most of their previous limited releases, this one actually was available for more than a week through the Sunn store. I'd assume that this timeframe would be enough to anyone familiar with the availability of such items. The band got my thumbs up this time, they usually make things tough for those willing to obtain limited releases without attending a gig but this time things went out pretty smooth.

Still, there are copies supposedly left for the euro distro, yet to be launched. Still, it isn't supposed to be a catalog item, so you have to act in a timely manner if you want to secure your copy.
