  1. I guess we can keep circlejerking about our shopping cart checkout skills, or we can take a critical look at the actual value of the vinyl in regards to its audio fidelity.

i think for a lot of people the value of owning a record in physical form is not necessarily defined by its aftermarket rarity or worth. or the actual quality of the vinyl sound. again influencing factor, but.....

like you said the outlook is not good, and i think an argument could probably be made in favor of buying the record despite sound quality, especially considering the history and conception of the album. who really cares though, buy it or don't buy it, nothing comes from arguing your own valuing system, but i think his point was that with an opinion like that you are almost sure to bet let down by the album, especially THIS album of all albums, and that has nothing to do with how "cool" it is to own in physically.

it won't be as "cool" as owning a first press, and it won't be as cool as seeing them live, which sounded better than this record on anybody's turn table. i saw their first show at the stone and then a second one with alcest, both destroyed. i showed up like 4 hours early and waited there alone with two friends for the first one because i was so afraid it would sell out like the Stone is apt to do. sorry to brag, and i know comparing a live show and a record is ridiculous, but i'm just pointing out that I enjoy the music outside of the rarity of the album. i doubt this press will sound much different, and i still bought it just for the alternate cover art and booklet, so yeah.....

difference of opinions i guess, i respect yours and hope if you do get the album you are stoked on it. i guess from my perspective it seems silly to quibble with myself for $35 given how much I enjoy the record, but then again i was hoping to get some of those arrowheads, so i can be the coolest kid of all.

i typed too much to answer this, but i'd agree, you are likely to be disappointed expecting true greatness from any remasters these days really especially this one, and that has nothing to do with shopping cart circle jerks

  2.

I don't know why everyone's worried about the preorder. I mean it's a great album with a decent fan base but 700 copies across two variants aren't going to go instantly...

i mean it wasn't really instant. i thought the unnatural world was going to sell out in like under 5 min for the /300 variant and was surprised how long that one stuck around too.

if there was an /100 variant for this record it would've literally been gone by the time you finished paypal, that would be instant.

  3. I managed to get a Euro one so please don't worry about me and hook up someone else if anybody is going to be a hero on that front.

sorry guys, i would've tried to get a couple copies for everyone here if it wasn't "limited to 1" on the UK store, but it was as part of another deal and i didn't want to throw that sort of burden on the dude who was nice enough to hook me up.

Fuck yeah $25 10", living the dream. Really pumped for this release.

  4. criticisms are spot on, it did sound kind of cut and paste, but all the parts were pretty cool, could be a cool opening track. wouldn't bum me out too much to see the band change up their sound, i loved their full length but i think they are one of the bands that could most benefit from trying to push their sound towards something more original and distinct. silly stuff to say, but i think this band has even more potential than what they've put out, and the last record was definitely grasping at it but just wasn't quite in the realm of being a classic, which hopefully they have in them.

  5. i hate to say it but if there is one album currently going for ridiculous amounts that i can see only going up in cost its probably the sunbather splatter. i don't think the tour presses will go over $70ish but the clear splatter variant is so sick. i wish i snagged one when they were going for like $70 because its only going up at this point.

i haven't seen a cream/black split of judah available for awhile but if that starts going for over $60 its going to be brutal when i eventually cave. wish i got that the once or twice i saw it for sale prior too..... good times.

good luck in your search dude i hope you can get one for a reasonable cost!!!! all it'll take is someone cool listing it on discogs for the median price and you getting lucky on checking your history.

  6. speaking of the Raiders variant, for anyone still interested: they were still selling some at the Boston date of the new tour w/ pallbearer. managed to snag one for myself.

brutal, when i saw them in boston months ago i was hoping to get a tour press and ended up with the RP. i'm happy to support the band and its no big loss, but considering the 2xlp was like $35 at the show i regretted it pretty hard lol
