  1. I would never purchase any vinyl signed, for much the same reason as a lot of you are mentioning. Unless I've met the band and have a memory of the signature, it is meaningless to me.

That being said, I got Tera Melos to sign my self titled copy of their record and next to all their signatures they drew faces on all the dudes holding chainsaws. I'd never want to sell it and if for some desperate reason I did, I feel like it's something that would devalue the record for anyone else (though I really love it and it's one of my favorite records in my collection because of it). Talking with them while they were signing it was a really special memory for me that's completely priceless.

Going off of what jhulud said, the value of your records shouldn't be that important to you.

  2. I know! I was looking at Teenage Bottlerocket Freak Out at Kmart. I checked Sears too just for the heck of it and they have some selection of vinyl. I was really hoping for a store pickup option on it, but I'd have to get it shipped unfortunately... But yeah, I'm definately going to get something when a sale goes up. The only thing I'm really scared of is what the shipping/packing is going to look like. I'm willing to give it a shot eventually, I'll let yall know when I pull the trigger and let yall know if it's any good.

    This is just plain crackerjacks!

I'm a little wary of the packaging, as well. Yes, definitely post up if/when you do order something; I'm really curious to know how it all turns out!

  3. What the heck? That's so strange!

I just looked at Target online, out of curiosity, and found out they sell some vinyl, too!

I don't know why I would ever order from either of those places, unless they put some stuff in clearance for ridiculous prices.

With your discount, though, I would just go for it!

That's something I would certainly take advantage of.

  4. whats the cd universe shipping like? send it out right away?

I put in my order around 11PM and this morning I checked and it had already been processed and charged to my card. It said I'd have it in around a week's time or less.

To those who ordered and already got their LP, was it packaged nicely?

Not that I can really do anything about it now if it wasn't...

  5. for someone who recently joined here seemingly to just air their grudge against Relapse, where are you geting this info from about "the girl" and a lot of people having problems with getting both green records instead of green and yellow? explain how you know what other people are experiencing rather than just naming and shaming.

I can understand where you guys are coming from. I'm not trying to come off as prick if that's how I'm seeming.

The girl is a really close friend/coworker at the store I work in. This whole scenario is just something I've just never heard of happening ever; if anything I just want to know if anyone else has maybe experienced this at all. Which doesn't seem to be the case at all with Relapse, they are really awesome from everything else I've heard/experienced otherwise.

Relapse is the one that claimed to my friend that other people were also getting multiple copies of the green/yellow records in their orders via their e-mail correspondence with "the girl."

It's just a really bizarre situation, that's the only reason I'm sharing.

I'm not trying to be a hater, especially being new to the forum.

  6. More on Relapse:

I don't think they are generally this bad, but on this Baroness release, they've been goofing up pretty bad.

The girl who got two copies of the same green record on the new album e-mailed Relapse to try and get it resolved. They took forever to get back to her. Apparently Relapse has been having a lot of people with this same problem, getting multiples of the same LP. Relapse said they would send them the "right" yellow record, which she received in the mail two days ago. Except, once again, she got yet another copy of the green record, bringing the grand total up to 3 copies of the same record in a double LP.

If anyone got a bunch of copies of the yellow record I'm sure she'd love to trade.

  8. Personally, I don't know if I'd buy a record without a sleeve.

Sleeves are half the fun of it all!

However, I'm the type that is really into having that original art in my hand. Anything less would be a tough sell for me. I'd be really hesitant to spend more than $20 bucks... Maybe not even that. It would completely depend upon how badly I wanted the record and how rare it was.

How much of a discount are they going to give you? I think it's a little bit of a pricey record at this point...

If you were going to try and look out for a sleeve like mindovermatter recommended, I don't know how much luck you'd have. You'd just have to be just that: lucky. If you are going to look into that avenue, I'd really consider how much you're paying now. Unless it's just a completely thrashed copy going for dirt, investing in purely a sleeve for your record seems like a waste when you could just try and get it all together to begin with. Especially when I doubt you'd find some empty sleeve for sale! I mean you might... I've never looked into that, but it just seems so slim.

Idea- If you are artistically inclined, you could always take the time to go buy some 50 cent record at the thrift store and use that sleeve to make your own with personalized artwork.

    Hope that helps!

  9. Relapse Records

Wouldn't say best... Wouldn't say worst... I pre-ordered the Yellow & Green Baroness from Relapse. Long story short, I added a different shipping address than my home address out of convenience for myself. Anyway, Relapse put a hold on my order for quite a while until I finally took the time to check on it (still pre-release date). Apparently first time buyers must always ship to your billing address for your first purchase, which of course I'd never heard of before. I had to send Relapse an e-mail and have the order shipped to my billing address instead. By that point, I was in-between checks and when the order went through, OOPS, I was broke and the card declined (my own doing, so I can't be mad for that). I just told them forget it, cancel my order. I was able to just pick up the record at my work instead, which was cheaper to begin with.

Positives: Relapse is fairly responsive to any e-mails they receive. Pretty much right when the business week hit, they got back to me right away every time.

    HOWEVER

I knew a couple who ordered that same record over pre-order. They wanted the clear green/yellow colored 2xLP specifically. When they finally got their order a couple days after the release date, they actually got two copies of the same colored record. They were only able to listen to half of the entire album which was a bunch of cranberry sauce considering they'd already had to wait a couple days longer than everyone else to even hear it. I don't know if they ever got that rectified.

    For that I vote worst.
