casinonightzone
So, I've recently moved into an apartment with a terrible old flooring. I've got my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon on top of my Marantz PM5004 receiver, all on top of a dresser (not ideal, I know), it seems like every few steps I take, the needle will skip across the record a few grooves. Obviously this is terrible for both my records and my needle. Is there something I could do for vibration dampening on any part of my setup? Should I just get a wall mounted shelf? Could this be related to my counterweight at all? Thanks! Edited September 19, 2016 by casinonightzone
andynz
I had the same issue in my place. We rent, so wall mounting wasn't really an option. I went with the 'cut in half' squash balls and an MDF board. Thread here: Edited September 19, 2016 by andynz casinonightzone
allenh
Firstly the turntable needs a shelf of it's own just to get it of the top of the amp because that's just wrong regardless of flooring or anything else. The amp needs to breathe and the amp and the turntable don't need to vibrate each other in the wrong way so fix that first. Then it's half squash balls, half tennis balls or similar under the feet as @andynz suggested and if that don't cure it the only other real option is a wall mounted shelf. casinonightzone
