bombjeff
Hey. I am new to these boards but I figured if anyone could help me it'd be people who listen to records, yeah? Anyway, my record player has been playing roughly one semitone higher (and faster) than it should be. While this allows my Running for Cover LP to be even more brutal, I like listening to records at the right speed... this shit is making me resort to MP3s! AHHHHH! If anyone can help me fix this problem, it would be very much appreciated! Thanks! -- Jeff
bigmonkey
If your turntable has a pitch control, you can adjust that to the right speed. If it doesn't, you might be out of luck. What kind of turntable? Belt-drive or direct? Is it old, new, has it always done this?
minty
I'm guessing there is no sort of adjuster knob? My table has these 2 little dials which you can finely adjust the speed with. If not, it may be a sign of belt wear. I think if the cartridge is slightly off balance/center, it may also make records sound slightly faster. Just a few things I've been told in the past! geezfools
if you have no luck here, try www.vinylengine.com seems to be a pretty good place to table help! I was able to get a service and instruction manual for my older table there.
